Loving ole redneck 'I've been driving trucks for 25 years' Dave. Never been on the ice before and he reckons they should give him several $100k worth of loaded truck and just wave him off up the haul road.
Had to laugh when he fucked up his first hill-climb laugh

Great to see the new series. Loved the bit where they blew the beaver dam upBig Grin

Yeah, that's probably the fastest Hugh's ever moved without there being a 3-course meal involved laugh

Poor old Dave had the wrong attitude from the off, and he paid the price. His driving mate summed it up nicely, anyone can drive a truck, but you got to learn how to drive this road.

I liked Hugh (the polar bear) at the beginning as well, talking about how he'd had enough of the Dalton and he'd leave it to the girls while he went off to the 'real' ice roads. Yeah right, I seem to recall at the end of the last series they said they wouldn't have him back as he was a liability and a loose cannon. He kept getting tickets, and blamed the cops for picking on him, he damaged loads and blamed the loaders rather than his driving.
In the special in India or wherever it was, he pretty much wrecked the truck he was driving there, and just shrugged it off as though it wasn't his fault. Maybe for the next special they should get the polar bear in an Eddie Stobart truck, I doubt he'd last a day driving for them with his attitude and wrecklessness Big Grin

i agree. hugh is as much a liability as a help; which is why the crew focus on him so much. and he did wreck a fair bit in India. But then the other muppet, Rik, is far worse.... i recall he had caps made for the last series with 'ice road rik' on them., then went on to nearly die and make a real mess of things... perhaps this year his caps should bear the logo 'ice road prick' instead..?? one of my ex's was a trucker, and he used to laugh his bollocks off over both this show and stobart's; which gave me the impression already that they only show the idiots. if they concentrated only on the guys who drive properly and professionally, then the series would be boring, and die a death. that applies for both shows. same reason why muppets like rylan get so far in x-factor; it's more entertaining.....
