CC Div 2

Northamptonshire are well clear at the top ahead of Lansashire who have played one game less, both sides are unbeaten.
Very little to choose between the rest.Leicestershire are bottom & are without a win along with Kent.

The YB40 competition is two thirds of the way through & takes a break for 5 or 6 weeks as the T2o competition starts tonight as Surrey take on Hampshire.

Surrey won the toss & only set a modest target of 140 to win, which Hampshire chased down, despite losing late wickets & with only 4 balls remaining.

Unfortunately missed roses t20 ,but it must have been a great finish .Bumble (David Lloyd) was still raving about it on Saturday at Durham game !
I expected Yorkshire would struggle in this years T20- no Miller or Starc to "carry"them, sadly .

Not to mention Root,Bairstow & Moin Ashraf who all played in most of last seasons sucessful team.Bresnan was allowed to play at the Finals Day by England which was big of them,he has signed a contract with Yorkshire to the end of 2016,wonder how much he'll play.
With so many top players out I was a little surprise to see Dan Hodgson play & not Lyth, maybe to do with form.

Yorkshire's (Jason Gillespie's ?) policy seems to be rest their main 4day bowlers as much as possible.
This appears to mean sacrificing the 1day comps in pursuit of championship glory .So far the policy has been a success so far.Although with injuries to Brooks and Patterson they have had to shuffle their bowling options anyway .Good months rest for the likes of Sidebottom and Patterson until the championship resumes may just give Yorkshire the edge over their rivals .If nothing else the resting policy combined with the 3 England call ups is giving the young 'un's an opportunity they might not neccesarily have got.If it comes off it will rightly be hailed "genius"!

Signing Brooks & Plunkett has given Yorkshire the edge in the Championship, with the expected loss to England of Root & Bairstow, plus Mcgrath retiring,it was thought runs would be the problem.Gale has delivered after 2 lean years & by luck they have finally realized that Rashid is batsman that bowls, not the other way around.Ballance is class.Ultimately it's the bowlers that win Championships.

After an exciting tie at Leeds, the T20 roses match at Old Trafford was as one-sided as you can get.
Yorkshire won the toss made 124-8 & Lancashire knocked off the runs in 11 overs scoring 127-2.

Lancashire lost to Nottinghamshire in the last round of games in the T20, thanks in no small part to a brutal innings from Hales.
