RE: Froch vs Groves....Who Wins? - Regenerated - 22-11-2013 18:59 Carl Froch for me - knockout in round 5 or 6. The more I hear this kid George Groves talk, the more I think he's trying to convince himself of his chances. Froch in reply has been much more reserved with the slanging matches. Groves may have won the press conference battles but its in the ring that counts - and Froch has proved it already. He's got the big fight head to win this one. I too think Groves will be able to hold his own early on, but as it gets near the middle rounds Froch will take him with a KO. Looking forward to this tomorrow night. RE: Froch vs Groves....Who Wins? - lovebabes56 - 23-11-2013 08:55 If Froch does win what would be the only super fight left for him? With a loss to Andre Ward on his record I doubt he would see a return fight with him being anything of money spinner for him RE: Froch vs Groves....Who Wins? - terence - 24-11-2013 00:16 (22-11-2013 18:04 )Crayzion Wrote: If it goes the distance and Groves can stand up for all 12 rounds, he will win. you were close mate! RE: Froch vs Groves....Who Wins? - Roger Patterson - 24-11-2013 12:34 It was a good fight but Froch looked a relieved man after the referee helpfully stopped the fight for him. RE: Froch vs Groves....Who Wins? - The Truth - 24-11-2013 12:41 Absolute travesty the way the ref stopped the fight, he shouldn't be allowed to ref again for a long time if not for good, he completely ruined what was surely a contender for fight of the year. Hats off to Groves who put on a display which completely exceeded anything I thought he was capable of, he out boxed Froch & bullied him up for long periods of the fight, making him look old in the ring and on occasions almost terrified to get hit. Now.....while Groves was definitely shook up in the ninth (premature stoppage) he should have been given the opportunity to fight on,exspecialy considering he had Froch rocking & rolling from round 1 when he had him on the seat of his pants, and if the ref by he own standards let Carl fight on then he should have afforded Groves the same opportunity,I'm not sorry to say once again, but the ref was a disgrace. In conclusion,Froch showed the heart of a champion,a granite jaw & desire that makes him one of Britain's best ever world champions, but having said that, even he in the cold light of day must admit he was lucky he got the result in the manner he did, the rematch is must in my opinion but even though Froch has said he'll have it, I wouldn't be surprised if he took a different fight before a possible rematch, just so he could get a bit of confidence back, because no matter what he may say, he was completely overwhelmed on many occasions in that fight. Rematch Rematch Rematch, thats what I'm saying RE: Froch vs Groves....Who Wins? - mikedafc - 24-11-2013 18:49 Apparently Froch broke his jaw when Groves knocked him down in round 1. Judges had it 78-73, 76-75 76-75 to Groves when fight was stopped. I think had Groves gone down and took an 8 count then ref would not have stepped in RE: Froch vs Groves....Who Wins? - The Truth - 24-11-2013 18:56 The judging was as dodgy as the stopage, Groves was "At Least" 5 rounds up my opinion. RE: Froch vs Groves....Who Wins? - lovebabes56 - 24-11-2013 19:45 How dodgy was this decision compared to any other dodgy decisions? I for one thought that had the fight gone the full distance, I think it is possible that had there had been a split decision then, it would have been harsh then for either of them to lose. I thought it was strange that no standing count was made and I felt Groves was defending himself to the best of his ability and definitely yes the referee did stop & ruined what surely should have been one of the biggest domestic dust ups for a long time, not since the Benn/Eubank days has there been a great fight between British fighters at super middleweight. I do think the fight should have been allowed to continue if Groves was in a position of defending himself, which I felt he was. He gave Froch plenty to think about, but I doubt Froch would be prepared to offer a rematch. but certainly Froch did himself no favours with his comment that the ref was right to stop the fight. I get the feeing that in the next year Froch will be ready to quit the sport and if that happens, then Groves needs to make sure he keeps himself high up enough in the rankings, to keep himself in a position to earn a bout for a vacant title. RE: Froch vs Groves....Who Wins? - The Truth - 24-11-2013 20:01 The scorecards were well dodgy, I'm not saying in a criminal/back handers kinda way, but definitely biased towards Froch the Champ and his reputation for being able to take a shot, his reputation kept him in that fight, and I say that purely because the way the fight was stopped, if Froch was any other fighter it would have been stoped in rounds 1, 2, 4, 5 ect. Just my opinion. RE: Froch vs Groves....Who Wins? - lovebabes56 - 24-11-2013 20:05 which body rules was the fight fought under (to ask a silly question?) |
