The T20 match is today, followed by 5 ODIs. The main England absentees from the winter are Broad because of his knee injury, Lumb who's place has gone to Carberry, and Dernbach who I think has played his last match for England.

I bet the Sri Lanka bowlers can't wait to meet up with Alex Hales.. Smile
Returning manager Peter Moores will be after a good start to the summer.

England won the toss and chose to field. Tim Bresnan and Moeen Ali have been left out from the 13, which means a debut for Harry Gurney and a first T20 appearance in 3 years for Ian Bell. This is Sri Lanka's first T20 since the retirements of Sangakkara and Jayawardene after the T20 world cup.

We need Buttler and Bopara in earlier

Man of the Match is Thisara Perera for his 49 in just 20 balls which proved the difference. Sri Lanka won by 9 runs.

Bell is a classy Test player but this selection is a backward step, the way James Taylor smashed Anderson around the other night surely he is the future, what more does he have to do to get a go.

Impressive 81 run victory by England tonight.

And a top rate batting and bowling performance by Man of the Match Chris Jordan.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaat? Surprised
England have won a game eek.
Surely this cannot be true, I demand an inquiry Wink Tongue.
No but seriously it was a good solid performance all round against a very talented opposition.

Jordan has a bit an X-factor about him, great Man of the match performance.

England hit Malinga for 71 in 8 overs Surprised and Sri Lanka lose for only the second time in their last 20 matches.
