Aviation experts seem sceptical about the idea of weather bringing down the plane. They say that even a direct lightening strike wouldn't have caused any serious damage.

The good news is that this crash should soon get solved as to what the cause was, because the black boxes were recovered from the crash site in reasonable condition and the investigators have confirmed today that they are able to retrieve the data from both of them.

It's actually proving difficult to resolve this case. Examination of the black boxes has shown that the plane suddenly went into a downward spiral and the descent was very steep with the plane hitting the ground very fast, but so far the cause of why this happened is still unknown.

I would have guessed at a wing failure but something from the Engines should show up in the Flight Data Recorder.

The interim investigation report has been released. On the preliminary findings the accident appears to have resulted from an engine stall and subsequent descent. I guess the aircraft weight accelerated the plane and the pilots couldn't manage to raise the wings and recover to level flight. Unless they find some evidence of damage to the plane the pilots will get the blame both for the engine stall and the failure to recover.

Latest reports say that the investigators are looking at "icing" of the plane's engines as a possible cause of the crash.
