RE: Athletics - Charlemagne - 19-08-2015 11:16 Well done to Seb Coe on being elected the presIdent of the IAAF, the body that governs world athletics. He's now got the difficult job of driving drug cheat out of athletics. He'll need a big car RE: Athletics - Snooks - 21-08-2015 20:02 The World Championships start tonight just after midnight UK time. Jessica Ennis-Hill will start her bid to win World Championship Heptathlon Gold to add to her Olympic Gold medal on day one of the championships. RE: Athletics - Snooks - 23-08-2015 00:47 On day one in Beijing Mo Farah sealed a successful defence of his 10,000m World title to claim Britain's first gold medal. Jessica Ennis-Hill and Katerina Johnson-Thompson are lying in 1st and 2nd positions respectively going into the second day action that is starting shortly tonight. Long Jump, Javelin and 800m left to complete to decide the outcome. RE: Athletics - Charlemagne - 23-08-2015 07:41 Katerina Johnson-Thompson overstepped on all three of her long jump attempts and therefore scored no points on her favourate event. RE: Athletics - lovebabes56 - 23-08-2015 09:01 Good to see Mo winning a gold medal and Jess on the way to our second gold and feel desperate for Katerina RE: Athletics - lovebabes56 - 23-08-2015 09:07 (19-08-2015 11:16 )Charlemagne Wrote: Well done to Seb Coe on being elected the presIdent of the IAAF, the body that governs world athletics. I agree the job is big but I think Coe is the man to push the doping cheats out of the sport but I wonder how many coaches have been banned for administering the drugs in the first place and how many have been banned for life for doing so. RE: Athletics - Snooks - 23-08-2015 09:16 A valuable lesson hopefully learnt for Johnson-Thompson in the long jump discipline. While Ennis-Hill made sure she got a conservative yet legal jump in early on to guarantee points before going for broke afterwards KJT played Russian Roulette with the long jump board and paid the penalty. All three of her jumps looked massive especially her 3rd one but the gamble of going for broke every time, risking no points and therefore dashing any medal hopes ultimately cost her dearly. A real shame. Meanwhile Jess showed her experience and class to get a seasons best 6.43m and although her Javelin was not spectacular she goes into the last event with an 86 point lead over her nearest rival. One hand on the Gold. Can she finish the job and seal a remarkable comeback win after the birth of her son Reggie? We will find out this afternoon. RE: Athletics - Charlemagne - 23-08-2015 14:20 Well done to Jess She'd only gone to the World Championship to get experience for next years Olympics. She'd just hope to medal. |
