Lynch is a living legend, the network should break the bank to keep him onboard. I've waited 25 years for this, I don't want it fucked up because of money issues
Just pay the money and we can get to see what happens "25 years later"

I'm rather hoping Showtime will see sense, cast members may refuse to sign on as David isn't directing etc. I wonder if Netflix or some other studio could enter the fray and make a suitable offer to secure it.
If it goes ahead without Lynch it'll kinda be like air..'wrapped in plastic', all the outer wrappings will be there, without the substance that made it truly Lynchian and unique in the world of televisionn.
