Dreadful news.

Rest well, Starman.

Good greif, I was just about to have my eggs when I saw this. What a shock, but, he had everything life had to offer and denied himself nothing.

Probbaly the greatest pop writer britian has produced, there was Lennon and Mcartny but they were a duo, Bowie was alone. Left a fabulous catalouge of music.

I was half awake and half asleep when the radio came on this morning and it took a few minutes to work out why they were playing so many Bowie snippets on a news programme before the terrible realisation dawned.

For those of you too young to remember or unfamilar with his early work you could do worse than get hold of the Hunky Dory and Ziggy Stardust albums.

RIP to one of the all-time greats.

My Dad auditioned David Bowie for the lead singer in his band in the 1960's. Unfortunately he said that this David Jones guy had a high-pitched, effeminate voice so turned him down. Ah well. Let's dance is as close to the perfect song that I've ever heard. I don't know of another song that mixes on and off beats so seamlessly. Must be a nightmare to drum along to, especially the bass drum pattern. I know, I've tried!

Creatively, he was a genius.
