I can understand these high levels of pay if they have a talent.. singer, musican etc, but for someone who just talks for a living these hign levels of pay are way too much.

Someone has to pay for his Ferrari collection.

There is big difference between the BBC and the other broadcasters is that nobody else forces you to pay for their output. Like other subscription services if i don't want Sky i simply don't pay for it. You are not even allowed to watch basic free to air TV channels unless you pay a TV tax. How is it fair that in the 21st century people can get a criminal record or even sent to prison just so the BBC can exist?

Thing is, these people are judged worth their money based on past performance. Evans has been DJ-ing off & on for what, 30 years or more, and he delivers high ratings, and generally always has. Like him or not as a person, he is a good broadcaster, both on radio and telly.

Alan Shearer scored a lot of goals.

Claudia Winkleman is the daughter of a tabloid editor.

These are not all skills that the man or woman in the street can claim to match Wink

^^ So give up your TV then - that way you don't need a licence. Compare the cost of the BBC with what you pay for Sky or BT or Virgin. Bloody good value from what I see

Oh and when you are old enough you get it for free - pop along and ask Rupert to do that for you Bounce

^^^^ True, Shearer scored a lot of goals......but won bugger all (Ok, one PL!) lol Jenas and Keown are far more interesting and insightful IMHO

If people are happy to pay for it then just like sky it should be made a subscription service that way there would be no problems with the licence fee. After all why should i pay the BBC just so i can be allowed to watch ITV?

And how much do you pay to watch ITV or Channel 4? The advertising revenue they earn is part of the cost you pay for the goods and services that advertise on them - one way or another you pay for them
