given the history in Spain over this issue didn't Catalans play a significant part in the Spanish Civil War in '36? Mind you, when you think about the Basque separatists that were running around Spain in the 70's & 80's I wonder how long it would be before they rear their head again if Madrid tries to impose it's will on Catalans again.

The Catalon leader has done a runner to Belgium. He's scared of being prosecuted for rebellion.

Your reasoning is flawed. At the moment France has only 2 guaranteed places in the Champions League, compared to 4 for Spain, England, Italy and Germany. With the coefficient points that Barcelona would bring in, France could expect to move up the rankings and replace one of the others and have the 4 places rather than 2. So Barcelona playing in the French league would likely give Marseille and Monaco more chance of playing in the Champions League, not less as you stated.

This is probably academic anyway, as clubs from Andorra (a foreign country) are allowed to play in La Liga. In the event of Catalan independence, the rules would just need to be amended to allow clubs from Catalonia to play in La Liga too.

I think the reasoning behind your assertion that the other clubs would want another mega rich super club which receives funding from the Middle East is flawed but there you go.

Spanish Government have issued a warrant for his arrest - wonder if he'll take the Assange approach? Which reminds me - is Assange still in the Ecuador Embassy?

RE: Catalonia independence vote - lovebabes56 - 04-11-2017 08:06

what's on the Warrant charge sheet I beg to ask? If rebellion (which is possibly as big a charge as treason) is the charge, then that would surely carry the death penalty wouldn't it?
