I well remember 3 years ago when Chelsea gave him the chop, and SSN discussing it and Alan McInally I think saying "where can he go, given his pedigree?" And this is the problem, he got sacked there for turning a title-winning (and probably title-retaining) side into mid-table crap. Any job interview involves the question "what was your last job, and why did you leave it?" To judge him on his past record of success, and not the reason for his sudden availability (i.e. his failure) tells you why football management can be a dodgy racket really (see also Sam Allardyce).

Following in the footsteps of Sir Alex was always going to be a challenge for anyone I think Man United will likely go through several more top names before finding the perfect one

Because the thread isn't balanced.bladewave
It's just a one sided arguement.

When Mourinho doesn't get sacked he's always been a manager with a short shelf life at any club usually 2 - 3 seasons then he walks (before the rot sets in) & probably lives by the saying 'Any fool can get the sack but it takes a good man to jack'. For me with that mentality he's not a manager with any long-term blue-print for any club he has managed.

When looking through Alex Ferguson's tenure at United he was pretty ruthless got rid of any players who developed huge egos & thought they were bigger than the club ie Beckham,Paul Ince,Roy Keane & if Mourinho was a player back then he would have got the heave-ho as well.

Mourinho's problem is he was neither fully embraced by the fans or ex-players which is like a kick in the knackers for Mourinho, his ego (which has it's own chauffeur) & all his past achievements.Mourinho turning on his key players is merely a chest-beating ploy to either a)get his doubters & haters on his side & turn on the players instead or b) engineer his way out of the club.

I've been a Liverpool fan for over 35 years (Mourinho was a LFC fan as youngster) & so I'd naturally say he's doing a great job & lock him into 20 year contract (with a relegation bonus).

He is continuing the work of Moyes. He needs another few years to totally **** things up. Let him continue.

He only went to United just to wind up Chelsea as United are Chelsea's Rivals and Chelsea didn't play for Mourinho i don't think Mourinho ever wanted to be Man United manager that's my opinion anyway. If Mourinho is going to be Sacked it won't be the Results it will be the Pogba thing i think he is trying to give him the Sack as they don't get along but you think about it he is to big a manager to be Sacked so it will be interesting to see what happens all I. know is he has broken more records at United then he has his childhood lol.

Who will replace Mourinho if he goes? And would they want to walk the tightrope at Man Utd? That job would have lots of pressure. Personally I felt Van Gaal wasn't given a fair run. And when Sir Alex retired he picked the right time because United's last Premier League winning side was his poorest by far.

Isn't Zinedine Zidane on standby.
