Will they now have to ground all helicopter types of the one that crashed to make safety checks like they do with aeroplanes? did they recover any black box system if there was one? My gut instinct would have thought at first hat foul play could have been involved but do think it is possible that if he had no business enemies that would not be a line of any further enquiry, with regards to police investigations further, would they follow British Police laws or Thailand police laws?

It's possible but if the AAIB had evidence of a design flaw it would have happened by now. It's more likely to be a maintenance issue IMVHO.

The AW169 does have a data recorder and it was recovered almost immediately & downloaded about a week after the crash.

Foul play is always a possibility but very unlikely. There are much easier ways to bump someone off than tampering with the tail rotor drive on a helicopter. If the failure had happened in forward flight with more altitude it could have been recoverable, they were just unlucky that it happened when it did. It could just as easily have failed on the ground too.

The crash scene was on British soil and the Helicopter was registered here. AAIB will investigate the crash and hand their findings to the Police if appropriate. The Thais may be kept in the loop but they won't have any official part in it.
