The main series was originally called 7 Up decided to do an experiment back in the 1950's by following a group of 12 different kids (from all backgrounds in life) I think it was and watching them develop over 7 year increments; the way they grew up and experienced the world, coping with all sorts of things. The last time we caught up with the people involved they were 56 yrs old and this latest series on ITV(it alternated with the BBC) will follow 8 of the original 12-some didn't want to carry on with the project. The first of 3 update programmes starts on Tuesday at 9pm on ITV1.Arguably the best show ITV have ever done. Whenever it comes around the schedules it provokes the thought "bloody hell, is that on again? Surely it can't be 7 years since the last time? Where does the time go?" RE: British/UK TV Shows - Discussion - GMach1 - 01-06-2019 21:54 I came into that programme late(obviously not around for the start ) but it's a good programme, nothing pretentious just good story telling and we've grown up with these people over that time period. Recording all three next week to watch back to back. RE: British/UK TV Shows - Discussion - GMach1 - 05-06-2019 01:32 I noticed that a new quiz show hosted by Danny Dyer called The Wall is being made but probably won't be on screen until the Autumn - I must admit he is the last person I would have chosen to front a quiz show but it could be cushty! More here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2019/the-wall I also see there is a new intellectual tough family quiz coming soon to BBC2 with Dara O'Briain, called The Family Brain Games fresh from presenting the 4th reboot of Blockbusters for Comedy Central. This looks, from the trailer pretty good and may well be quite hard-a sort of upper intellectual Ask the Family. No start date announced yet. RE: British/UK TV Shows - Discussion - GMach1 - 05-06-2019 17:09 Yeah I am looking forward to that, been ages since the last series and of course there is a third one already commissioned. RE: British/UK TV Shows - Discussion - GMach1 - 05-06-2019 19:21 The A Word written by Peter Bowker and based on an Israeli project called 'Yellow Peppers' is being brought back to BBC1 for a third series. It follows the family of a young child who has autism and how they cope with life and his trials and tribulations. The young actor who plays the autistic kid is very good and it also stars Christopher Eccleston and Morven Christie as the mother. I would think as they have just started filming that it will be mooted for Autumn or early Winter. RE: British/UK TV Shows - Discussion - Chrisst - 28-06-2019 15:22 Good news...Julie Lowery is on Ideal World, Friday Fashion now. There is a competition running, just how many times Genevieve says "Yer Bengleens" during the show. (Is there a separate thread for the Ideal World ladies, there surely ought to be). RE: British/UK TV Shows - Discussion - GMach1 - 29-06-2019 22:46 It looks like BBC1 Saturday evening music quiz The Hit List might well be coming back next year as it seems Rochelle and Marvin Humes were a hit with viewers as a husband & wife presenters for this challenging music knowledge quiz. I hope so because I enjoyed it. Series ONE of police drama LONDON KILLS shown in the afternoons(BBC1) is set for a second series(already season one was shown in America to critical acclaim) and the US get season two next month, but no news on when series two will be shown here and no news if there is to be a series three. RE: British/UK TV Shows - Discussion - GMach1 - 02-07-2019 17:56 The last series of POLDARK is coming soon to BBC1 and although it has been mentioned that this is the last series, there is talk of dramatising the remaining books with Ross Poldark and Demelza as older people. |
