Watched episodes 1&2 and it gets a thumbs up from me as well, including a few actors from the prequel trilogy reprising their roles

Not bad. The actor playing Owen was convincing as to how he will be in A New Hope, as also explaining how Leia seemed to know Obi-Wan to call for her 'only help'

So far so good.
They are making the same mistake as Lucas did with the prequels though — they are trying to build excitement by putting in mortal peril characters that can’t possibly die, because we all know that they turn up in future films. It’s all transparently manufactured suspense.
This is what Better Call Saul has handled so much better. As a prequel, it answers questions about characters who end up in Breaking Bad. But it builds suspense by getting us to care about new characters and putting THEM in mortal danger.
This may also be why Rogue One was one of the better new Star Wars films.

That’s a problem with all prequels whether it’s a movie or tv show. Another example would be Rogue One they were all gonna die or with X Men prequels and even those were a mess.

First 2 eps were decent enough but not exceptional.
I had enough trouble buying Ewan McGregor as "young" Obi-Wan in the prequels but now we're only 9 years before EpIV he's going to have to age pretty quickly to turn into Alec Guinness
