Statement from Arsenal FC, Mikel Arteta tests positive for Covid-19, entire 1st team squad, coaching staff & other staff to go into self isolation

Surely this is the straw that breaks the Camel's back ? All games need to be suspended

Looks increasingly likely it will be postponed/suspended tomorrow. Apparently there's an emergency meeting in the morning. Only thing that has to happen is a suspension for at least a month, most likely it will be the end of the season. Whether its declared finished or null and voided most likely won't be decided for many many months, the legal ramifications for that could lead to some serious lawsuits all across the leagues not just the top flight.

Arteta must be the most high profile sporting positive in the country so far

I see it's being suggested that if the leagues aren't played to completion there could be promotion but no relegation, as a way of keeping everyone happy. That would mean a Premier League of 22 clubs next season.

I don't want that even though we benefit from it. Well, I wouldn't petition to stop it but I want the job done fair n square.
We're disliked enough as it is, that would be something for other fans to bang on about til the end of time if we go up that way and stay up. It's not fair on fulham and maybe forest and brentford. Behind closed doors was the right option i think unless it was delayed and resumed as normal then that would be fine too but unlikely.

Dont know why we couldnt have 3 lots of playoffs

Give liverpool the title and city 2nd next 6 teams in playoff for the European places

bottom 6 playoff for the relegation spots

Leeds and west brom go up

and championship playoffs for the i think there are about 10 teams who are like a few points off the playoff places who could realistic got into the top 6 in the 8 games remaining

If it's not possible to restart the leagues it probably won't be possible to have playoffs either.

I think somehow a ruling from FIFA & handed down to all confederations may now be needed, just to ease a path through all the legalities of promotion/relegation in all domestic leagues.. that has to happen pretty quickly.
I would have thought it would have been better to just somehow complete the season and no relegations happen, but promote 2 clubs and teams play each other just once in a shorter season then, no play - offs & relegate the number of clubs needed back down to get the division back to it's original structure for the season after, but we have to have that directive from FIFA itself as a framework for the EFL/PL/FA to make the right decision. Even so, we could be looking at a far longer period of inaction that we first thought possible. As far as I know I don't think Qatar has yet to confirm any cases, but it is playing havoc with WC qualification programmes already and we are even looking at Qatar 2022 possibly even being postponed or cancelled

You think about it if the teams are automatically promoted this season like they said they was going to do you think about it the football will not only effected this season but next season to because there will be 22 teams in the Prem next season we know that already meaning 3 get relegated that's normal but here's the not normal part they will be down to 19 teams meaning only 1 team can be promoted from the Championship making it up to 20 teams again meaning there will be no play offs again for a second season in a row.
