Owing to the hot weather & lack of appetite, today I've gone for ciabatta. I see it as breads equivalent to an Aero chocolate bar. It's basically fresh air so you wont get to full. A bit like the polar opposite to Dr. Who's Tardis, the crusty exterior gives the impression that there's a lot going on inside, yet cut into it & there's very little substance.

Bread of the day for me is Baguette. Made my own garlic bread to go with smoked mackerel carbonara, sounds a bit odd, but a great substitute foe bacon. Courtesy of that Jamie Oliver geeza. Also the humble baguette has no equals as the most difficult bread to get back from the shop to your home, especially when it's really fresh, with it's unwieldy length it can't help itself from bending & breaking. Sunday morning treat, bacon sarnie, & it has to be white not brown bread. I've gone for a farmhouse loaf, cut in thick slices which resembles a farmhouse I guess. Big Grin Oh & HP Brown Sauce is also a must for me, ( other brands are available, but to be honest they're shite). Important

Shortbread Huh fuck it...it's a biscuit, but wait, on further examination it did start it's life as a biscuit bread, made from leftover dough. overtime the yeast was replaced by butter. Still, todays name is awfully confusing. not however as complicated an argument as the Jaffa Cake being a biscuit or a cake. Huh
