I've read through all your comments over the week and it seems that the majority opinion is that people are happy with the existing format. I've decided to keep the league as it is. I want people to feel welcome in taking part and I feel that the proposed changes might detract severely from players' enjoying the competition. The groups was not really viable, neither was the idea of relegation to a secondary level. I feel both of these things would reduce people's motivation in taking part and that eliminating people from the competition goes against the core idea of the game. The wrestling prediction games also have an emphasis on wanting people to feel welcome in taking part and I wanted the football prediction to continue that tradition. I've decided not to do the dream team. This idea was born out of the last man standing games that people play where they select a team each week and put money in to a pot and whoever is left at the end takes the winnings. I agree that in this competition it would just add more novelty scoring which isn't really necessary. A cup prediction as a side thing might be interesting although that would have to be open to another forum member to start such a competition if they wished. I'm afraid I will have my hands full again with this and with my work in the real world, and wouldn't be able to give it the same attention that a competition would deserve. The idea that I cannot decide on is the jokers being allowed for correct results aswell. To me the double points possibility is a unique scoring opportunity and extending that to another avenue is reducing the skill level of making the predictions. On the other hand, players who are less successful in joker achievement may long for an extension of that rule in order to have more success. Just don't know on that one... I do appreciate all your suggestions and comments and it's great to see people still interested and wanting to take part. I'll post my own predictions later tonight. Well, I couldn't exactly sacrifice my own involvement for a second time.... Thanks everyone. |
