Yes I watched him with awe in the 1970 World Cup. But I wouldn't put him on the same level as Maradona.

But Pele for many will always shade Maradona as the GREATEST of all time, simply because he was the player's player, a great role model for young players, he played in the most dominant national team of all time - and he didn't cheat.

I wonder if VAR existed then would they have given it?

Maradona has disgraced the world of football with his use of drugs, arrogant behavior and mistreatment of people around him, even shooting at journalists, but at his best he played mesmerising football which no one else could match, not even Pele.

He was all things, as one poster has said a Tax Dodger and a Cheat. He was always a brilliant footballer and on his day and there were lots of them, the best in the world.

Spoke to my mate about this his comment was "The guy was a cunt but a brilliant one"

Now returning to my friends phrase, on the scale on 1 to 10 Maradona is very much at the lower end,

Time to consider who the biggest cunts you have met in your private life are, for me it was Bernie Cornfeld (Google him) do that and consider where Mardona ranks not very high I would imagine

Nice comment, I will be surprised if we make it out of our group, we failed with Dalgleish, Souness and Gemmill so why should this time be different. However I think Steve Clarke will have them fired up for this game on the 18th of June and this will be their consolation victory
