I would have liked to see Lingard and Ward-Prowse in the squad. I can only hope that they are given a chance if somebody else gets injured, not that in any way I'm hoping that someone does get injured, but they should have been in the squad. To leave both Bamford and Ings out is staggering.

For me, Henderson was wrong to take the ball away from Calvert-Lewin for today's missed penalty. Two friendly wins and not particularly impressive ones. I hope they're saving a better performance for next weekend... because we're gonna need it.

be an embarrassment if we don't get out of what looks like a decently compettive group and the Scots do We'll never hear the last of it north of the border.

Southgate had all season to pick decent squad and probably picked a safe one. I think our chances rest on him getting his selection and formations right as well Kane to get goals but we'rll be scuppered if Kane gets injured. i agree about Lingard he hit form in the latter half of the season and deserved a place and do hope his loan move becomes a permanent for West Ham next season. David Moyes got the best out of him.

Ben White has been chosen by Southgate as the replacement for Trent Alexander Arnold.

a typical safe boring Southgate type player, he is not going to play a game i dont think hes even the best centre back at his club Webster is a more creative player, totally pointless taking him, would have been better to take James Ward-Prowse for his dead-ball specialist play as someone to bring on if we need a goal,

Where are they now?

These are the players who were picked in the squad for England's last tournament, but haven't made it this time.

Jack Butland
Nick Pope
Trent Alexander-Arnold
Gary Cahill (retired)
Phil Jones
Danny Rose
Eric Dier
Fabian Delph
Ashley Young
Dele Alli
Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Jesse Lingard
Jamie Vardy (retired)
Danny Welbeck

Lingard is on the stand by list for the Euros.

turkry 0 italy 3
italy had to work hard for that win and tbh think England will have to be just as impressive in their opener. With Mancini as coach, Italy might surprise a few.

Not that hard.

Turkey was very poor.

They made it difficult for Italy to score in the first half, with 11 players behind the ball and — at times — virtually the whole Turkish team in its own box.

But the opening goal was always coming.

I was impressed with Italy’s composure and organisation and, in particular, their aggression in pressing the ball, even after they had the lead.

Thinking Wales have a tough opener today compared to England tomorrow which is more sterner opener of the two??

However being British a good start by Wales would probably give the other two home nations a boost inn their fixtures. Only thing is - Robbie Savage will be insane on Radio Five Live during the game!! I imagine 606 will lively if Wales don't win and England supporters give Robbie some stick!!

So the tournament began with a remote-controlled car delivering the match ball to the referee. After that Italy were soon in top gear, although determined to find a weakness in their performance, I note that only 8 of their 24 shots were on target. Turkey only managed 3 shots with none on target.
