A Paris court is set to decide whether to order internet service providers in France to block access to pornsites without effective age verification. 5 of the most visited adult tube sites in the country, Pornhub, Tukif, xHamster, [this site or phrase is filtered - please contact a moderator for further details] and Xnxx, are fighting a decision by France’s online content regulator, ARCOM.

Warnings! This is getting ridiculous. Age verification is one thing, but this is wild. Due to come into force on 1 September. In the meantime PornHub has blocked access from Utah visitors in response to the recently introduced legislation there.

Pornhub announced on its Twitter page yesterday that it has blocked access in the US states of Virginia and Mississippi.

Regarding the above, the Texas age verification law, a group called the Free Speech Coalition has successfully argued in court that it violates the US constitution. The judge was persuaded that the law was overly intrusive, infringed upon free speech, posed privacy risks and was based on pseudoscience. But although the law has been blocked for now, the current ruling is only a preliminary injunction and the final court decision is still to come.

The thing that's most wrong with this proposed law is the warnings websites are to carry which are headed Texas Health Services, whereas in fact Texas Health Services hasn't even made the findings in question (about porn impairing your brain function etc).

An Age Verification law in Arkansas has also been blocked by a judge, temporarily anyway.

Texas and Florida are leading the way in showing the world what Republicans want America to look like, with various other states following on.
America truly is on its way to becoming a country for people who look and think the same.
I wonder when all social media be age verified in these states to protect the children, they have content that's more harmful to society than porn is.
Porn impairs brain function like video games cause mass shootings, utter nonsense. Society crumbles without a healthy approach to sex and relationships.

I dread to think what happens if Orange or Floridaman become President, things are mad enough without that kind of power shift Sad

Spot on, these right-wing Americans (usually evangelical or fundamentalist christians) go after porn websites saying protect the children or society, yet its been proved there's more harmful content on social media than porn sites
