I wonder now if Cook will take a leaf out of Jardine's book and try bodyline tactics 2013?

Just tell the guy go and throw the thing down as fast as he can for 5 hour spells dont worry about economy, line and length and all that shit. Give them a taste of their own medicine as their batting sure dont like it up em any better than ours.

The one factor I think our batters probably sometimes (or forget) to take into account is that the ball does travel quicker through the air down under!!

Is that the Coriolis Effect, then?

Certainly appears to when Johnson has the red cherry is his hand.

Looks like England will gamble on Root batting at 3 and possibly Stokes at 6. and with a drop in pitch being used, one hopes that we will take advantage and bat first if we win toss. I know they said if we don't get 400 on it will be a disappointment on 5 live last night, I would agree but it will be a massive blow if we don't make 500!!
As far as the pitch goes for spin I would play Panesar in place of Swann as I think he could get more out of it

It will be interesting to see the selection made and proposed batting order which will certainly be more difficult than the side for the first test which almost picked itself. I think I will take a tip from the Aussie Skipper and not make any predictions this time round.

Aussie press and our own SSN having a field day with the news that KP, Broad and Bairstow reported out drinking in at an Adelaide night club till 3.30.

Pietersen & Broad out on the lash - now the pressure is on them to perform. Funny to think of the Aussies tucking themselves up early at night, though - maybe they just know the quieter spots to go out.

Probably that was arranged to blow away any pre match nerves!! I think the pitch's condition is going to be key in this game one way or another.

Australia have named an unchanged side for the 2nd Test,no surprise.Cook was asked about the No.3 position & gave nothing away. When Clarke was asked to named England's side as he predicted in the 1st Test,he declined at first, but when pressed said he wouldn't be surprised if Monty was picked, although he expected them to go for Bresnan & Ballance.
