It's been a while....... Just reading back through the previous posts. Bit of a conflict in opinions there!!! Now to add my tuppence worth.... I agree with parts of BOTH sides of the debate. groundnpound, i always admire how you get excited and see the positive side in everything about the club. Admirable quality. And i agree with you about Rodgers. I was a bit sceptical about him at first when KK was binned but i've been won over by him. His passion for football, the way he speaks about the football club, his philosophy on the game, his honesty and his respect for Liverpool Football Club is refreshing. I agree with you i think he's got something special about him and given the time AND BACKING he will be a success. You're right about the midfield players also. We have a special group of lads in there and Joe Allen looks like he was born in the centre circle in Anfield!!! And now for mitchell.... You are 100% correct with your assessment of the forward line. We are woefully short up there. We lack the goals to compete for a top 4 place. Suarez is a world class player but he wont get enough goals to fire us into the top 4. He isnt an out and out striker and should be used wider in the front 3. At the moment we will struggle to make top 4 in my opinon. City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal are miles ahead of us. Spurs, Everton & Newcastle look stronger aswell as hard as that is for me to admit. It's all well and good having these class midfielders but it counts for shit if we dont have a player to finish the moves off. We finished 20 points of 4th place last season. There isnt a bloody hope of us making up that difference this season. Looking back on the closing day of the transfer window, i have to say it was a complete and utter cock-up by the football club. It was embarassing. To let our only out and out senior striker leave the club without a replacement lined up is one of the worst decisions in the history of our transfer dealings. Its even worse than paying 35 million pounds for him in the first place!!! ![]() To sum up.....I think we will play lots of pretty football, dominate possession but we will ultimately be left frustrated quite a bit this season. The reigning Babe Channel Predicting CHAMPION'S ![]() ![]() By the way lads. If any of you guys have online links where i can watch those Hillsborough Documentries i'd greatly appreciate if ye can send them to me. My geographical location Down Under doesnt allow me to see them on tv!!!! Cheers fellas, Yoda ![]() RE: Liverpool FC - mitchell - 09-09-2012 10:44 Oh please!!! http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-boss-brendan-rodgers-wants-1313449 What the fuck!!! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/9531116/Liverpool-manager-Brendan-Rodgers-to-receive-help-from-technical-committee.html# I wouldn't mind Dan Ashworth at Anfield, I've heard a lot of good things about him, he'll be in a top job at St George's Park when it opens. Thats more like it. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/271441/Kop-keeper-Pepe-Reina-is-top-goalie-in-the-Premier-League-says-Neville-Southall/ Yup Master Yoda bang on there. You'll be able to get the Hillsborough docs BBC iPlayer & ITVPlayer, if not I'll post it on here if I can find it. RE: Liverpool FC - groundnpound - 09-09-2012 23:39 I know where we're at lad's, i know we're short of proven firepower and everything's not perfect but it was never gonna be at this stage, strikers or no strikers. Patience is the key. I'm as aware as anyone, seeing nearly every game from the stand then watching each game 2or3 times more on telly first to last whistle! (I shit you not). We'd all love Andy back (apart from Mitchell) ![]() I'm positive because i see what we do have, a brilliant manager, the quality in our squad. We've got players like Stevie Gerrard, Suarez, Joe Allen, Sahin, Sterling, Agger, Pepe Reina all players most teams would love to have. We've got the best crop of young players we've had for years. I believe if our best players are fit and available for the majority of league games this season, we'll score enough goals and we won't be a kick in the arse off the top 4. That's how i honestly see it. RE: Liverpool FC - Mr77 - 10-09-2012 12:22 Raheem Stirling has just been called up to the England squad , hopefully he doesn't play. RE: Liverpool FC - groundnpound - 10-09-2012 12:43 He's a gem. There won't be many as good as this lad in a few years time, been saying it for 3 years. He was picked for the u21's last week and Rodgers spoke to the fa to get him pulled out and put with the u19's to keep him out the media spotlight...Now he's in the full squad. ![]() Playing for Liverpool and England at 17... Fantastic. Good luck to the kid. RE: Liverpool FC - The Truth - 10-09-2012 16:44 Good Article by Dan Kay.
