RE: Dr Who - gazcraw77 - 22-11-2021 22:25 I've always quite enjoyed the weeping angels, and enjoyed this episode Looks like I was the only one going by comments lol RE: Dr Who - KerrAvon - 22-11-2021 23:41 Probably the best use of the angels since their debut in Blink. Flux still has it's flaws in loose plotting but I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would. I've gone from feeling very meh about The Timeless Child/Division malarky to being very interested by it. But they've got time to muck it up lol. RE: Dr Who - southsidestu - 23-11-2021 21:53 This was probably the best episode of series so far and I thought this was also the best use of The Angels since Blink. One thing that Chibnall has done well is bring new writers to the show in particular Vinay Patel who wrote Demons of the Punjab & co-wrote Fugitive of the Jadoon both of which were nominated for Hugo Awards & Maxine Alderton who co=wrote this weeks Angels episode with Chibnall as well as The Haunting of Villa Diodati which contained the best moment of Jodie's run, the basement scene. I would like to see RTD retain both these writers for the show next series RE: Dr Who - Doddle - 29-11-2021 21:11 Er... yes, well, quite... RE: Dr Who - Doddle - 06-12-2021 21:48 I think it's been quite good this series. Some of the casting and characterisations especially have been maybe better than expected. A few loose ends resolved, a few left over, and the acknowledgement that RE: Dr Who - ShandyHand - 25-12-2021 14:06 Thought I'd repurpose the lyrics to a familiar tune. Quote:Smashing through fake doors, RE: Dr Who - The Silent Majority - 26-12-2021 13:25 Clearly you've had too much time on your hands over Christmas... RE: Dr Who - ShandyHand - 26-12-2021 13:29 Well the channels are not providing the usual occupation of hands! ? RE: Dr Who - ShandyHand - 02-01-2022 14:03 After the occasionally impactful but ultimately messy, tonaly inconsistent and frustratingly crippled by flaws Flux, we get an unexpectedly strong seasonal gift from NuWho. Yesterday's was easily the best Whittaker episode to date. The paired down action - formed of several relatively simplistic, often neatly recurring, set pieces - allowed for a focus on the right aspects at the right time. (This balanced pacing is in stark contrast to the often jumbled blur of 'let's get past this plot hole as fast as possible in the hope people wont notice' take of much of Chibnall's era to date.) I most appreciated the thoughtful character beats worked into fleeting grabbed moments of breathing space. Most welcome too was the return of the traditional base under siege plot. (It's no coincidence that the most effective Whos have often been stories that carefully limit their own scope.) Humour and characterisations were consistent and on point for a change also. Dialogue was improved and seemed to inspire the cast - with even the regulars stepping up to the standards set by the guest cast on this occasion. I could nit pick a few little faults but if the rest of Whittaker era had been as much fun as this I'd have supported every part of it. I wonder if they are finally getting what's required after 3 years of trying?! Bring on the overdue return of the Sea Devils. RE: Dr Who - skully - 02-01-2022 15:10 I thought it was a bit shit overall tbh, it had some good moments (mostly between the three main characters), but other than that, meh. Felt like a filler rather than an event, it should have been better imo. |
