Close up look at the Season 6 suit, not only is the chin strap back on the mask but the mask has been totally redesigned and the wings on the mask are now comic book accurate.

The storyline where he took the cure was nonsense I thought, he loved having his powers, it didn't make sense for him to want rid of them, even for a so called "normal life" with his new girlfriend, which he can only really have by leaving team flash altogether, which he hasn't done so the removal of his powers makes no sense storyline wise.
I am glad he is sticking around though as he is one of if not the best characters on the show

The reason why they made the character normal again was to bring him back to how he was in season 1. However things might change in the up and coming crossover.

It’s been confirmed that Actor John Wesley Shipp will be returning as The Flash/Barry Allen from Earth 90 in the crossover Crisis On Infinite Earths and it’s not just Black Lighting that will be showing up but other characters from the show.
