RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - hornball - 15-12-2020 18:26 Who knew that at some point the realization may just dawn that relaxing the rules - purely on the basis that the govt knew the dim witted minority wouldn't follow any rules that were as strict as is necessary, in a weak kneed attempt to 'curry favour' whatever the cost - would fall flat on its' face?? If the govt (and the police) had acted all along with the resolute determination to enforce and penalize as appropriate everyone would have got used to it, and been fully aware of where the line was and realized that there would be absolute consequences for ignoring it! How did anyone think that relaxing the guidelines would do anything else but cause exponential rises in both infections and death numbers, and what does it say about those in charge, that they continue to make such dangerous proposals?? Everybody wants to see family and friends, but surely it is worth waiting a bit longer to help ensure - as far as we can - that when we do, it won't endanger us/them! If this most basic of things can't be worked out by those in charge, what are they in positions of influence/responsibility for?? RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - lovebabes56 - 15-12-2020 20:46 WTF???? So Cuings got 4oK PAY RISE BEFORE he was booted out????????????????? WHO the F**K in their tiny minds thought he was worth a 40K pay rise after all the cuntish things he did during the first lockdown?? That 40K probably should have been used to pay for more vaccine doses as back up when we run out???? RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - hornball - 15-12-2020 21:56 Now the latest is that despite the evidence that following Johnson and the governments relaxed rules will result in a steep rise in infections and, logic would suggest, an equal rise in deaths, and the clear position of the NHS that this plan should be overturned, Johnson is hell bent on moving ahead regardless. Sorry, but he is getting perilously close to being culpable of manslaughter with the fatalities that the experts say will flow from this decision. Strong I know, but I can think of no other description for the inevitable consequences of his and his govts (and their idiotic backbenchers) impending and deliberately calculated actions. Apparently the other UK nations are in lock - step. Unless I have badly misread this situation, they are equally culpable! I have always said that this IS in fact a zero sum game. No eradication of the virus, no future! RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - Rammyrascal - 16-12-2020 16:33 Boris “All 4 nations are in this Christmas plan together” Wales & Scotland “Hold my beer” RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - hornball - 16-12-2020 19:11 As if it couldn't get any worse! Relax the rules but implore people NOT to follow them. If it wasn't so serious.....etc!! It is about time the govt - and the minority who might be inclined to make use of the relaxed rules, listened to those from the NHS who are more - or - less pleading with us to abandon Xmas this year to save them facing a nightmare come the new year! We are treating the best of us who work in the NHS at this time of most danger with utter contempt if we do not do as they ask. The govt by relaxing the rules and admitting - in the case, of at least one minister/spokesman - of a problem come the new year by doing so, sure as hell are!! RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - HannahsPet - 17-12-2020 10:00 President Macron has tested Positive for the Rona RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - lovebabes56 - 17-12-2020 10:19 Probably not the last national leader of their country to test positive either RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - Rammyrascal - 17-12-2020 12:20 Tier review announced. Bristol is going down a tier, more areas of the south and south east go up to tier 3. Everywhere else stays the same. As for my part of the U.K., Greater Manchester has stayed in Tier 3! which for me is more proof of a bias against the north. Greater Manchester is now well below the national average for rate of infection and below London when it was moved to tier 2 and now has a similar rate of infection now to Bristol which has dropped down to tier 2. RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - lovebabes56 - 17-12-2020 12:51 The WHOLE of Hertfordshire will move into Tier 3 - that's Christmas ruined then!! Now beginning to think Hornball's assumption at the head of this page of this thread is right - if there hasd been the right rule enforcement and enforcement of penalties not only from the first & last lockdown but throughout the whole of the pandemic from start to finish, I think the messages would have got across better to people - still get people coming in store with no masks!! and we would have been a far better position than we are now, but the problem was (and always has been) the Government has been giving out mixed messages that just simply went into one ear and out the other. If they wanted total conrol of the virus why didn't they say 'fuck it let's just shut everything down and be done with it like it was in March', but I think they are now dangerously & periously close to fighting a losing battle, and probably for many of us and our loved ones the vaccine will come far too late. I fear (& think) slowly one by one business sectors will collapse under the strain of restriction, no matter what the tier they are in, and more and more will face redundancy and unemployment this is likely to end up being far far worse than the Great Depression...by the time of any of us getting vaccinated, there won't be anything of what it was like before left to enjoy. This Government has done far more mental, physical & economic damage to our economy and lives than Thatcher. I reckon even if the rate of infection has dropped in your area SAGE will probably have shown statistics to Govt to prove otherwise, it's like I said too many mixed messages and clarity has never been this Government's strongest point. Butvcertainly do agree there could be a bias against the North regions |
