RE: UFC - mitchell - 18-11-2012 14:27 Where was Martin Kampmann's defence, Hendricks got through once without even a flinch, ok so he didn't connect but still, surely he knows what power he could get hit with, if thats how he was approaching the fight then he deserved to get KO'd. I didn't think the main event was as good as it looked, Condit was too reserved & GSP didn't look like he'd finish the fight even if they were still fighting now. Thats now 6 of his last 7 that have gone the distance with a TKO corner stoppage over BJ. 3rd dan black belt in Kyokushin kaikan & Black belt in Shidokan, it's been 4 years since he got a TKO win over Matt Serra, I can even remember if he walked in in his pajamas last night? There's been too much wrestling control in his fights of late & other than the elbow cut thats pretty much all he did last night. As good as a fight with Anderson Silva would be you can't overlook Johny Hendricks on his current form, 14-1 (9-1 UFC), 8 KO's, he's never gone more than 2 decisions in a row with 4 of his last 7 being finished with a punch. I can see GSP v Hendricks happening in March/April, then if GSP wins Silva v GSP at the end of the year?........ Condit will probably get Nick Diaz on the same March/April card, GSP v Diaz RE: UFC - mitchell - 18-11-2012 15:10 UFC UFC 154: St-Pierre vs. Condit Georges St-Pierre def. Babeshows UFC Open-weight Predictions Grand Prix champion RE: UFC - groundnpound - 18-11-2012 21:48 GSP is a warrior. 19 months out the game with reconstructive knee surgery, coming back to a fight against the best guy he's ever fought, thought he was outstanding. As good, better in fact than i've ever seen him. Absolute legend of a fighter. His jab was brilliant, takedowns were unreal and when he had Condit down he was firing punches and elbows constantly. He stayed out of Condits range brilliantly for me and when he got too close and was caught with the high kick, he recovered like a true legend of the sport and fought back brilliantly and typically with strikes and a takedown. He won every round and looked like he loved every minute of it and had a real hunger and appetite for it again. Unbeaten in over 5 years, 10 fight winning run, 7 straight defences of his title. LEGEND. RE: UFC - groundnpound - 20-11-2012 22:59 A few days old this but Carwin vs Nelson is off. Carwin knee injury. Matt Mitrione takes his place. Another one I saw was Struve vs Kongo at UFC 156. RE: UFC - mitchell - 21-11-2012 19:36 I'm not saying GSP has lost it, he just doesn't look like he's gonna finish a fight any time soon, he needs to get that killer instinct back. Ever since he started talking about not fighting to keep his belt but fighting for a legacy he looks like he's fighting safe? Struve v Kongo the last I saw was called out by a fan on twitter to which Struve responded, "Great fight, lets do it". Kongo refused to step in after the Carwin's injury due to it being too early, Dana isn't too pleased. RE: UFC - groundnpound - 21-11-2012 23:32 I get what your saying mate but its no big deal for me that he's not finished a fight for a while. He dominates all comers and wins his fights unanimously in his own style every time. It would be different if he was a Jon Fitch type, unbelievably boring 99% of the time. GSP's different gravy though lad, definition of a mixed martial artist. Kongo's a step up again for Struve, I know he's an improving fighter but he's never captured my imagination or convinced me really. Any time the lads stepped up a level he's been knocked out - Dos Santos, Nelson, Browne. Can't wait to see him fight Kongo, should be a cracker! Jan 19th Sao Paulo UFC on FX 7 - Belfort vs Bisping. |
