In theory, yes, I agree, but in practice I think it is actually the other way around. The PL nominates something like one quarter or one third of the FA board, but the PL board is nominated solely by the clubs.

So if, for example, the FA tried to pass a rule that all England U19s will spend one month per annum training together at the national football centre, then the PL would have the means to stop it -- which they have done in the past, notably during the shortlived days of the Lilleshall experiment.

When journalists bang on about the dysfunctional relationship between the FA and the PL, it is this type of thing that they are on about.

It would be 7 years, because it was 2007 when the name was changed from 'FA Premier League' to just 'Premier League'.

I think there will be a lot of low scores on account of Spain's early exit.
