RE: Ofcom Discussion - Gibbs Luvs Dani O - 26-11-2012 18:35

I'm not for Ofcom, but doesn't South Park have parental warning before the show starts.
I think i know the episode your on about.I can also mind an episode when they had a counter on screen for every time they used a certain curse word, which i can't remember what it was.
They must have said the word about 500 times if i remember right. The amount of times i have watched South Park showing the gang going to Raisins,(A Hooters piss take) which is a diner full of 3rd/4th graders,Or Family Guy showing Peter lusting after Connie DiMeako who is one of Megs schoolmates. And whats the excuse they always use,That it's a cartoon and not real.
They maybe right, but the subject matter is very real.
But we never hear about Ofcom hounding them for any breaches of regulations.
It's one rule for some and f#*koff to the rest.

This is fucked up. Just watching the sex education show just now on more4. And guess what they are showing practically a hardcore porno movie to the youngsters at the school. It's fucking wrong.

I'm seeing open leg pussy on here. Something the babe channels which is aimed at an adult audience isn't allowed to show.

In year's to come we'll all look back at this moment in history with utter disbelief. It's not so much double standards but downright fucking madness.

The whole of ofcom need to be carted off to the nearest looney asylum.

...

I always found that show highly dubious for that very reason. Yes we should teach our kids about sex, but is it really neccessary to show them close-ups of male and female genetalia, or have live naked models in the classroom to do so. This just seemed like illicit titillation to me in the guise of being 'educational'.

Bear in mind that this is the same team that occupied WHSmiths in protest at Lads Mags being on shelves where they are accessible to kids! Now that is double standards.

Cant you all see what your doing?
Scottishbloke is working himself into a wreck trying to get Ofcom to go easy on the shows for us and you know why? because we are ALL letting him!
We need to share the burden from him, not every man can carry the weight of the world on their shoulders alone, when was the last time any of the rest of you spoke to Ofcom for him rather than each other? Your leaving it all to this one man to do and as a result he is no longer enjoying the shows or the forum.
Scottishbloke I will make the start and put the complaint to Ofcom, I think others here need to stop talking at start acting.
Come now brothers, let us back this man rather than fight among ourselves!

Thanks for that post mido. It really was comical genious laugh I wouldn't go as far to say I no longer enjoy the shows or this forum. Thanks anyway but I really don't need a spokesman even though your intentions were good Wink Also I'm not too upset to post either Big Laugh But for me it's all about collective responsiblity. I think a lot of us on this forum have done our bit. Eccles and the petition last year was a really good idea.

A few of us have also sent e-mails to ofcom but as expected we seldom get a responce. Fed up is fed up because of the sexest mentality of ofcom. Ok to show penis's and not the vagina. It's all about us all pulling together in the right direction. continental is too angry to post and eccles is too busy disecting a frog as we speak and fuck knows what's happened to Stan lately Rolleyes I am ofcourse only joking Wink

Keep up the fight well into 2013 and beyond and one day we'll have the bastards eating humble pie. That I promise you Smile

RE: Ofcom Discussion - The Truth - 27-11-2012 19:12

No disrespect intended here, but once people start regurgitating the same speeches over & over, pretty much means that the voices of discontent aired on the forum regarding ofcom have not yielded results, therefore the whole anti ofcom rhetoric is nowt but a way to vent rather than having any significant meaning.
If people are really serious about tackling ofcom's iron rule, they need to change tact, less talk more action. Banners on the streets of London outside Parliament, seek an audience with their local MP's,More direct emails to ofcom themselves, that sort of thing.
And before anyone accuses me of anything,I signed the petition twice and as far I know that avenue is now closed.
I'm not saying people shouldn't vent their frustrations but this thread is now starting to loose it's credibility.

I have spent most of this year complaining to ofcom/bbfc/channel 4/channel5/daily star via text message.

The single biggest annoying factor is double standards. Male nudity is fine, female nudity is utter filth.

Fantastic post and as female nudity(down below) is banned the babe channels cant go any further..

There are lots of double standards on UK tv too long to list which does not make sense..Ok from now on any double standards i see i will email ofcom for a response...You cant let your son have a games console but deny your daughter one cause she is female...Ofcom allow some programmes to break rules and others not..i will start to point this out but unless a large amount of others complain ofcom give themselves an easy ride by just saying not investigated..If they have to investigate its work for them which at 67 grand a year is disgusting.

So ofcom dont do their job for which they are extortionatly paid for so you go to Graham Howell who also does not do his job,,what next go to police?? They all stick up for each other this government and the amount wasted by them is pure sickly evil but they still keep their jobs when they should be in jail..This MP lost the taxpayer 45 million quid on West coast Mainline fiasco yet gets to keep her job.Now she managing famine relief,ha,taking piss or what if i lost my company money i would be sacked..Arggghhhh its like how to infiltrate these idiots in charge with their big wages and protection.

RE: Ofcom Discussion - Scottishbloke - 27-11-2012 22:41

The only thing is fedup is that you should be very careful what you wish for. As much as it is very honourable for you to e-mail ofcom or complain to them and highlight their inconsitencys knowing the twisted bunch they are. What next - Ban South Park Important

I'm in favour of the 9 O'clock watershed and programmes before that of an adult nature should be pin protected. At the moment there is a proposal by the mainstream channels to lobby ofcom for change into allowing for more adult content to be shown pre watershed. However to date it's still unknown or clear whether such a proposal has taken place regarding the 900+ channels.

It's really an awkward one to call at the moment. But certainly fedup you are 100% correct in your conclusions based on what they really ought to be doing. Genrerally accepted standards should apply to all, not just ones that ofcom deem to be easy targets.
