Yes, that's all very strange with coach Arthur laying down his own idiosyncratic rules to the Aussie players. They have to now do 'homework'. Huh - otherwise they're dropped from the tour.

They are dropped for one test aren't they, not the tour? I thought there was still another test to be played.

I can see that the coach maybe needs to set an example, but in the middle of a series in which they are 2-0 down & needing to win the final 2 Tests I think they have shot themselves in the foot by not being able to select from the full 16 man tour party, which leaves picking 11 from 12 players. If they'd done this at home at least they could have called up replacements if required.Shane Watson is the Vice Captain & he has hinted at retirement, but Catain Clarke still hopes to have him back for the 4th & final Test.

After the 1st day was lost to the weather,Australia got themselves into a good position at 139-0,before 3 wickets fell for 11 runs.Warner was dismissed for 71 & Clarke who has moved up to No.3 in a re-jigged batting line-up was out for a first ball duck.

Australia made 408 in 141.5 overs,India have blasted their way to 283-0 in 58 overs. Vijay made 83 from 181 balls,& in contrast Dhawan on debut 185 from 168 balls. He reached his century from 85 balls, the fastest debut ton in Test match history.Remember Vijay made 167 in the previous Test.India have only recently dropped, first Gambhir & then Sehwag. On this display it will be hard for either of these former stars finding a way back into the side.
At close on day 3 India trail Australia by 125 runs.
