the ref just booked derossi 5 mins later after allowing play to continue and it got me thinking (dangerous i know!). derossi fouls fabragas, the ref waves play on intending on booking him when play stops. a minute or two later without a break in play derossi deleberatly hanballs on the halfway line, but again play is waved on as spain have the advantage. the ball goes out. the ref would have to book him twice and send him off. i suppose it could happen!

Its been a good match so far with both teams having chances although Italy have had the better chances. I think Spain not playing a striker was a mistake. The biggest shock so far is that Balotelli has got a yellow cardshocked

1-1 spain italy is a bad result for ireland! really could've done with spain winning.
