RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - rpj316 - 27-11-2018 01:23 ^ I was just reading the comments for that video Kelly,it got a surprising amount of love from people and as well as being a UK number one it did well in Germany also. RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - GMach1 - 27-11-2018 01:32 I've not watched it but was that the one with Timmy Mallet? Ugh! MInd you here is a fact did you know that Mike Myers started his professional career on a programme for kids that Mallet did after him called WACADAY which Mike appeared on with comedian Neil Mullarky-early days of ITV's childrens' Saturday mornings but not a patch on the BBC's Multicoloured Swap Shop with Noel Tidybeard RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - rpj316 - 27-11-2018 01:39 Yes it was That thing with Mike Myers was called The Go Back To Sleep Club,it was pretty funny.I remember him using spoons as earrings. RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - GMach1 - 27-11-2018 03:05 I am sure you all know the song by Lionel Ritchie, "All Night Long" a great dance tune and features various forms of dance and dancers. Do you remember the bit where the African dancers appear and start swaying to an African tune and singing words well that is actually nonsense they are singing, it was made up to sound like an African tune but it doesn't mean anything at all. Here is another bit of trivia. Do you the tune Feel For You by Chaka Khan? Well if you do you will remember it starts off with her name being rapped "chuck, chuck, chuck, chukka Khan, chukka Khan..." but did you know she had no idea that had been out on the beginning of the record and also if you watch the video for it apparently the dancers are dancing to a completely different song! Finally the group DNA recorded a version of Suzanne Vega's Tom's Diner with a beat track( it was originally sung solo with no accompaniment) and she found out what they had done and could have sued them for millions of dollars, but she decided that it worked so well that she gave her consent and she went on to have a top ten hit here with it. RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - GMach1 - 27-11-2018 23:52 We've been nominated for thread of the year so thank you to everyone for your contributions and keep contributing when you can. It feels like much longer..... RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - GMach1 - 28-11-2018 18:22 Yeah I think I've aged about a year as well Also been nominated as best non-babe poster-very humbled by that too. The dome of the Taj Mahal is held together with sugar, fruit juice and egg whites. (funny I always thought the St Basil's Cathedral looked like it had piped, coloured meringues on top of it like giant Iced Gems) The Sun is closer to the Earth during the UK's Winter, not the Summer. At the age of 69, French writer Victor Hugo(Les Miserables) had sex with 40 different people in five months. The US uses more electricity for air-conditioning that the whole of Africa uses for everything. Oh no...you didn’t watch that? Tell me you didn’t? How could you admit to such a crime? My God man. You’re the first person I’ve ever heard dare confess to watching it. Am I being subtle enough in saying that I was a Tiswas fanatic? RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - GMach1 - 29-11-2018 00:01 Bugs Bunny facts-(from 50 Years And Only One Grey Hare) The name is actually a mistake as the animator and designer's name was Ben Hardaway but his nickname was 'Bugs', and it was a grammatic error. It should have been given back to him as Bugs's Bunny but they left off the apostrophe and it was labelled as 'Bugs Bunny' and the name stuck. Arthur Q Brian was the only person who was used for the voice of Elmer Fudd as no-one not even Mel Blanc could get it right. Daffy Duck's voice was reputed to be a mickey take of a producer who used to rasp when he spoke. Chuck Jones created Wile E Coyote and Road Runner but there were a series of cartoons that had Bugs Bunny up against the Coyote - you might have seen part of it as a signature quote: Wile E. Coyote: "So let's get down to cases: you are a rabbit, and I am going to eat you for supper. Now, don't try to get away! I am more muscular, more cunning, faster, and larger than you are, and I am a genius. Why you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten." One of the most ambitious cartoons starred Bugs & Elmer Fudd which condensed the Ring of Niebelung(spelling?) to 7 minutes. I was called 'What's Opera Doc?" and won the cartoon an Oscar. I am also a huge Hanna-Barbera fan and I have some facts about that to come-you lucky people |
