England are in deep deep trouble.
124/5.
Their place in the World Cup now very very much in jeopardy.
Buttler gone.
Nearly all hope has been lost.
It will take a miraculous recovery from here.
Ben Stokes. Your country calls on you to save the day.

65 runs defeat.

It's either 300+ runs for England or bowled out.

This was a match that needed cool heads. The total wasn't difficult and it didn't need all the big hitting that cost so many wickets.

It didn't help when the opening batter was bowled out in the second ball.
He'd left a gap between bat and pad big enough to drive bus through bladewave

New Zealand take on Pakistan today at Edgbaston

It's very disappointing to see England nearly throw away all the good work that has been done before by trying to go all out when it needed cool heads, The last two are now def must wins and those themselves aren't against easy teams. It's likely it will be a long time before England host another Cricket World Cup so if we don't make semis, it will be a missed opportunity yet again.

^ The aggressive style of play they have followed is what made them favourites. Sadly the pressure of the World Cup is a different matter. The loss of Jason Roy has been critical in my view.

Totally agree but I think there is little chance of Roy recovering before England's next game

Where is Alex Hales when you need him?

New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat.

Current score 59-4 off 19 overs.

I wondered why Hales wasn't in the test team and found this article
'Hales was "deselected" in May after it emerged that he had lost the confidence of his team-mates following a second drugs test failure. But with Roy facing a race against time to recover from a torn hamstring, there is a possibility England may need to call a replacement batsman into their squad.'

New Zealand batted sensibly and reached 237-6 . Neesham was 97 not out
