I would see the above^ as being the same as not paying the BBC License fee. To threaten someone with the law - imprisonment in terms of non payment of the license fee - would seem draconian to me!

If you want to live in a democracy act as though you do and use your vote. If not close the door on your way out.

It''s the law in Australia and you have to send in your vote even if you live overseas.

I've just noticed that the Liberals are 500/1 to win a majority.

If everyone sticks a £10 on them and then votes for them, we all £5000.

The weather is a bullshit excuse for a low turnout. Put a coat on or get a postal vote.

I voted on Tuesday, so global warming can do it's worst today.

I would agree! I still would be cautious about making it a legal requirement though!! If voting was a legal duty, it would reduce options on the ballot paper, and the need/onus for/on candidates to make themselves worthy of 'your' vote!

It is!! I once had the thought that everyone should be able to vote by post! It then occurred to me, that those who gave us the freedom we enjoy today, would have quite liked to have fought for our freedom by proxy, but saw it as their duty to front up!! So it can't surely be too much of an effort to attend your local school/hall or whatever - if physically able. Like you 'Silent' I voted days ago!!

Maybe the next generation won't have to go to a polling station, they will be able to go online or use their phone to vote.

Make the Party Manifestoes legally binding first.

Also make all party statements subject to fact checking. For every statement found by an independent body to be false then you lose 50 candidates. That would mean in this election the Conservatives had no candidates Bounce

Amazing to think there's just four and a half hours of politics left and then we never have to think about it again.
