Had Croatia won and England win tomorrow there would have been three teams in the Quarter from the same group. I don't think that's happened before.
Both the World Champions and European Champions have only ever gone out in the euro knockout round once before last time it happened was 1968.

It was mention tonight on commentary that last week a group of French fans arrived in Bucharest to see the defending World Cup champion face Hungary at the Euros, only to find out the game was more than 500 miles away in Budapest.

Déjà vu of the first match. France have been pulled back by Switzerland to 3-3.
Same happened to Spain in the first game but they managed to get 2 more goals in extra time.
Bet no-one had two 3-3 results in the competition.

Nope definitely not happened before as in the old format only 2 teams progressed from there group but it could of happened at the last Euro's i am not sure.

first time in European Championships since 1968 that both the World Champions and efending European Champions have been knocked out in knockout Phase England were the last World Champions and italy were defending European Champions to lose back then. Maybe an omen?
