^ Employees of the BBC are not allowed to have political opinions (unless they are The Chairman who is a Tory Party donor or the Director General who stood as a Conservative Councillor and was Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party in Hammersmith & Fulham in the 1990’s.) bladewave

Quote:So seems Rishi and Co are more concerned about gary lineker than the highly suspect Immigration bill that will prob break more UN and EU conventions than anything in history

Other than globalist morons, who cares what the EU and UN think? We voted to leave the EU so we could control our borders.

Any UK PM worth their salt would be reminding the French at every single meeting that we liberated their grotty country. Fucking bleeding us dry.

I do find it amusing that The Tories keep trying to re-hash the same old failed rhetoric over the small boats. Not only has successive governments in this country failed to prevent all unwanted movement into this country so has pretty much every other country past and present. Authoritarian countries like North Korea and USSR can't keep all their people in and no matter how hard they try Global North countries can't keep them out.

I remember Tony Abbott talking a tough game on small boats back when he was PM and it ended with him using tax payers money to pay the criminal gangs.

If people are willing to cross one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world, in treacherous conditions in dodgy boats they are not going to be put off by anything the UK can throw at them. The only way people will be put off by coming to this country is if it is worse than where they are coming from. Either a worse economy than developing nations or less safe than Aleppo.

Now to be fair to the Tories they are giving the economy one a bloody good try. If burning down Carthage with austerity wasn't enough, they then went and not so much salted the earth with Brexit as they Chernoblyed it. A quick google search found that people believe that Pripyat will be inhabitable in a timescale of 3,000 to 20,000 yrs. On the chance that Brexit only results in the smaller timeframe Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng decided to release a budget that pushed the UK towards the 20,000 mark.

A piece in the FT a while back showed that in 2024 the lowest quintile in Slovakia or Slovenia (can never remember which) will be earning more than their British counterparts and Poland will have a higher GDP per capita than the UK, thats despite the UK being a much wealthier country than both in GDP terms. Well done to the Tories in successfully cutting eastern european migration by making the average Briton poorer than people living in former Soviet Bloc countries.

And yet one of the many things thats crazy about the small boats situation is that it allows people to confuse visability with whats actually happening. Despite the massive increase in people using boats the number of people claiming Asylum has decreased by 50% since 2002 subsequently there are fewer people coming across the channel in boats than there were in the days when they came across on lorries via the tunnel. But because the pro Brexit, anti lockdown Lemmings that form the base of the Conservative party get worked up about the visability of the issue in the right wing newspapers and Braverman's bullshit about invasions and 100s of millions The Tories have backed themselves into a corner which they can't get out.
