Heartbreak for Slovenia but their defensive masterclass won hearts and fans there for me.
You can read too much into body language, but every one of the Slovenia penalty takers marched up to the spot looking like they were as surprised as anyone to be there. I would have bet against every one of them.
But I agree — tremendous defensive effort to get that far in the first place. In fact, but for the missed Ronaldo penalty (which was debatable in any event), Slovenia probably had the best chances in regular time.
A creditable performance across the whole competition.

Slovenia are the seventh country to fail to score in a tournament shootout (but the first to do it at the Euros).

.However in the stands the events are not so good with objects being hurled at various players on corner kicks

With a strong start in the group stages, Austria was a darling dark horse of the punditry. Now they’re out.
The other darling has been Switzerland.
