Heaven's no I'm pleased to be able to drag out a piece of useless information from my last career but five, dust it down and press it into service. RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - GMach1 - 26-02-2020 02:44 Here's something you might not realise. Did you know the James Bond theme tune was reworked from a failed musical the music of which was written by Monty Norman. It was based on a story about a man with a terrible sneeze. The book by VS Naipaul(Indian author) was called A House for Mr Bizwas. Norman wrote the music but then later was hired to write a theme tune for the first James Bond film, Dr No(1962) and he re-wrote the tune he had used in the theatre. The guitar solo is by Vic Flick and despite what you might think John Barry did not write it. RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - Chrisst - 26-02-2020 17:50 The rights to The James Bond Theme went to court a few years ago and Vic Flick was determined that Monty Norman should be recognised as the composer. The story goes that in persuit of evidence Flick had a go at recreating the tune and gathered together his Vox AC10 amplifier (although some sources say it's an AC15) and his Essex Paragon Deluxe electro-acoustic guitar that he used originally. Booking time in the original studio, Cine-Tele Sound in Wembley he brought along his friend to help with the engineering. His friend's a guy called Eric Clapton. And the result? Well they couldn't recreate 'That Sound'. Now they'll be those in the trade who maintain that with modern pro-modelling tools etc etc you can dial in the sound you want but I've never heard anyone really achieve it and the sig. is all about timbre, depth, warmth, attack and tone and I'm not surprised that it couldn't be done even under the best conditions. RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - GMach1 - 26-02-2020 18:19 On average, 12 newborns will be given to the wrong parents daily. There are no words in the dictionary that rhyme with orange, purple, silver and month. The caterpillars of some Snout Moths (Pyralididae) live in or on water-plants. The females of some moth species lack wings, all they can do to move is crawl. If one places a tiny amount of liquor on a scorpion, it will instantly go mad and sting itself to death. The first CD pressed in the US was Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA." RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - billyboy1963 - 26-02-2020 20:30 29th May is officially “Put a Pillow on Your Fridge Day”. This strange holiday spans back to the early 1900’s, where families would place a piece of cloth in their larders. It’s celebrated in parts of Europe and the U.S.A to bring luck & wealth to the household RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - billyboy1963 - 26-02-2020 20:31 During your lifetime, you will produce enough saliva to fill two swimming pools. An average human produces between 1 to 2 litres of saliva each day, which is a maximum of 730 litres per year. The average life expectancy is just over 70 years, which gives a maximum of 51,100 litres of saliva produced in an average lifetime. This is more than enough to fill two swimming pools. RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - billyboy1963 - 26-02-2020 20:33 If Pinocchio says “My Nose Will Grow Now”, it would cause a paradox. This is known as Pinocchio’s Paradox. If you think about it, Pinocchio’s nose would have to grow to make his statement not a lie, but then it can’t grow otherwise the statement would not be a lie. RE: Fascinating Facts and Trivia - billyboy1963 - 26-02-2020 20:34 Movie trailers were originally shown after the movie, which is why they were called “trailers”. The problem with the trailers showing after the film was that audience wouldn’t stay around to watch them, making the trailers rather ineffective. Because of this, line judges have to learn curse words in every language so they know when a player has violated the rules. |
