Mark Hunt is fighting in the UFC for the 5th time 3-1, but was signed on the back of 5 stright 1st round losses. He'll be giving away over a foot in hight & almost 10inch in reach to Stefan Struve. RE: UFC - groundnpound - 02-03-2013 23:20 I dont think Zuffa wanted Hunt when they bought out Pride Mitchell. They tried to buy him out of his contract but he turned the offer down to have a crack at the UFC if I'm not wrong. I like the lad. He's massively underrated for me, a former K1 World Champion. People who think this fella's just some wild brawler are mad. He's a clever customer, with immense power and looks to be improving all the time. He's about two good wins away from a title shot I think. RE: UFC - TDK2008 - 03-03-2013 07:20 Won't tell you who won but I will say the co-main event was a good fight and the main event was amazing. RE: UFC - mitchell - 03-03-2013 10:49 I wasn't saying I don't like Mark Hunt, he's a decent fighter, albeit not the not fittest. The way & reasons they cut some fighters is crazy given they signed him off the back of all those losses. Dana brings out the go to a different organisation, get some wins then come back, yet Hunt was signed off 5 losses. I'm not quite sure what Stefen Struve is doing at the minute, he's got everyting needed to be a champion. Mark Hunt vs. Stefan Struve http://www.mma-core.com/videos/fights/Mark_Hunt_vs_Stefan_Struve_UFC_on_Fuel_TV_8_Part_1/10050482 Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann http://www.mma-core.com/videos/fights/Wanderlei_Silva_vs_Brian_Stann_UFC_on_Fuel_TV_8_Part_2/10050486 I've only seen these two fights as I set it to record & it didn't, are the other fights worth a watch?. I know your a Struve fan mate but I don't see how you think he's got it in him to be a champion. He looks in trouble every time he gets caught with a punch and for a lad with that many submission wins, Hunt beat him easily on the ground, he just brushed him off and ended up on top in most of the exchanges. Even though he's only 25, I can't see him troubling any of the top Heavyweights any time soon. Don't know what any of the other lads think? Another thing on this fight, how is the result not marked down as a straight KO win for Hunt? He knocked Struve out with a single punch and walked away, a clean KO! Vintage Wand last night. Brilliant stuff, rolled the years back that. His entrance back in Japan... Was like the Pride days. Quality stuff! He's getting near retirement Wanderlei but he looked good, roll on his next fight. Lombard was unlucky not to get the decision over Okami. Thought he did enough to win the fight. He won the first in my book and definitely the 3rd. Another result called wrong I thought was the Gomi fight. Gomi won all 3 rounds from where I was sat.... At the very least he won two of the three, he looked good Gomi. Crazy decision. 8 decision wins in a row last night until the last two fights. Was a long old night.... 6.45 before I hit the sack! Shattered now to be fair. RE: UFC - mitchell - 03-03-2013 17:48 Ok I think he can challenge the top fighters if he got serious about his game, he's got the size over everyone, decent kickboxer, 16 subs & 6 KO's in 25 wins. I think if he changed trainers he'd be taken to the next level. He only needed to keep Hunt at bay with the jab & the finish would have come in round 2, he didn't even throw any knees & his hands were way too low, he also looked fucked in the last round.... Off his game all fight to be honest, All I can think of is he didn't acclimatise. Word is he broke his jaw in that fight. Mark Hunts decent but as you say about Struve, I don't see Hunt troubling the top 3-5 fighters, he doesn't look professional enough. Diego Sanchez says he now wants to fight Nate Diaz, decent fight that. Wanderlei Silva Silva is an athlete that fights very much for his fans. It’s what sustains his youthful energy for the fight game. It’s what keeps him going, and what may keep him going beyond the time when he really should – like the NFL quarterback chasing one more Super Bowl – call it a day. Silva has been in many wars over the years, his health taking a beating at times. The day is coming, but the day is not today. “I fight one fight at a time right now,” Silva stated. “I feel healthy, but I know sooner or later I’m gonna need to stop the job, but I’m happy for getting this feeling, this energy from my fans, make the show for my fans, make my fans happy.” How many more todays does Silva have? Only Silva will be able to answer that question, and even he can’t answer it just yet. If he loses his next fight then thats it, he's 4-7 since 2006, I don't see who he's gonna fight next, I was thinking Glover Teixeira but he's expected to face Ryan Bader next. I know Brian Stann is inexperienced but he played into the hands of Wanderlei, he needed to show some composure & use a bit of in & out not go for the tear up, Silva would've known by what happened at the end of the first he was in for a good night. |
