It's poetry in motion. RE: The "Pissed Off " Thread - Tractor boy - 27-09-2019 15:08 It is a cunning sales tactic. You pop in to the store to point out the misspelling, and while in-store you feel compelled to make a purchase. Either that or the sign writer cannot spell. Signwriters do have a habit of making signs exactly how they're asked to make them; spelling mistakes and all. I recall one boss having a heated conversation with a signwriting company over an expensive, misspelt sign; only to be told that they made it to his exact specifications, and any spelling errors were ultimately of his making not theirs. You can't fault their logic, as if they'd corrected it ahead of the print, then later found out he'd meant it to be spelled the original way, then they'd be liable for the cost of another sign. Bet it was a pretty expensive mistake to correct as well RE: The "Pissed Off " Thread - Chrisst - 05-10-2019 06:14 ^ This is a very interesting point, two instances spring to mind: Firstly there's a fleet of foreign lorries with the warning sign: 'Left Hand Driver' on the back. Secondly in documentaries a script error remaining unchecked even though the narrator must surely have known it was wrong. An obvious example being train in preference to locomotive. Landing Module rather than Lunar Module's another. RE: The "Pissed Off " Thread - lovebabes56 - 05-10-2019 09:20 That's probably a more expensive mistake than a sign... RE: The "Pissed Off " Thread - GMach1 - 06-12-2019 19:17 Not pissed off as such just puzzled as to how this keeps happening. My Dad phoned our surgery this morning before 8am(when they open) to make an appointment to see the doctor(as he had a bad cough, chest infection as it turned out) and rang 1min before 8am. The recorded voice told him the surgery was still closed, so he tried again and got the same message. Literally a few seconds after 8am he rang for a third time and was told he was in a queue...no 14! Later when we got to the surgery he asked what on earth was going on and they didn't seem to know. It was so much more efficient when you had one receptionist who knew what she was doing and it didn't matter what time you rang.!!
