In my view the very large majority of rioting has been opportunistic, mindless thuggery of the most pointless and self defeatist nature. Its just jumping on a causeless bandwagon to steal, rob, damage, destroy and cause anarchy. Destroying cars, buildings and vandalism to business premises does nothing to build community spirit or improve the state of local economies, quite the opposite actually happens. This rioting is not a reaction by those feeling alienated from society, it is just selfish, thoughtless nonsense that is forcing our police to be wasting time and resource on these yobs. The bill for all the damage done and cost of jailing and punishing the culprits eventually goes straight back to the tax payer. Burning down business premises and wrecking communities is only going to help slow down any economic recovery rather than speed it up. Everybody suffers, nobody gains. It is really depressing to see especially when so many of those involved appear to be teenagers.

good old british weather of rain in the summer has made some areas quieter. are rioters thinking "its too wet riot." rain stops riots. rain is employed the police as special riot officer.
