i'm beginning to wonder if we are on a slow burner for GB medals. Why do our media have to put so much prssure on our athletes to get a medal so quickly? I know it's a boost to team morale, but like it's always been mentioned;- 'It's not the winning that's important, it's the taking part.'; so why can't our media accept that certain circumstances in every event decides the destination of each medal?I would have been more happier if before the games we ddin't have hight expectatons about how many gold medals we could win and the media just said 'Let's just enjoy the Games, and let our athletes do the best they can to their abilites.' I am pleased that the women's footie team have qualified for the quarter finals. They have performed way better than the men so far and I think it would be great if Wembley was packed to the rafters for the game against Brazil (for obvious reasons - to check out the hottie Brazilian fans who may turn up). it would be such a boost to the team's confidence if the british public did that, show that we are behind them, as they deseve a sell - out game. If they finish second who will they face? for team perfomance alone, they have probably done better than expected or have dared to hope.

The main story on the BBC news last night was, in effect, "British cycling team fail dismally". Tonight sees some more of the swimming finals, and there was one pundit sensibly saying that Rebecca Adlington is by no means guaranteed to defend her title as it's a stronger line-up than last time. but if she doesn't win, I can guess what the headlines will be.

It's the same old story of the media building people up but then being only too ready to knock them down.

Womens cycle races is much better than the mens. Attacks galour and the two brit girls actually reading the race right.

Nice breakway, with one brit, seems just a matter of which colour she'll get.
