Woakes came back well after his expensive opening spell and had a modestly respectable day in the end, but Kerrigan's performance meant that England's idea of playing 5 bowlers was ruined, as they were effectively reduced to 4 bowlers. It was a good day for Panensar though, as the England selectors would no doubt have been reminded of what he can still offer. Anyway the start is delayed on the second day. Light rain is falling and the covers are on. The forecast says the rain will last for about an hour.

For once Tremlett might have been more lucky not to be selected than to have been selected, because of the pitch, since for someone who doesn't play regularly this was probably the wrong match to be picked for. Anyway no problems with the weather this morning, but England have lost Cook for 25 and are 68/1.

Tremlett took all 5 wickets yesterday as Durham racked up over 300.
He finished with 8-96

England crawling along at 2 runs an over,decent bowling but not one of the batsmen including KP able to up the scoring rate.Playing for a draw with some rain interruptions tomorrow.
