rooney had a good 45 min and set up the first goal. drogba when he came on made chelsea more of a threat.

ive got rooney in my fantasty football team out of him and drogba.

also got hernandez (man utd) in as ive been very impressed with him this summer, played very well for mexico in the world cup and has done very well for united in pre-season scoring several goals and was very lively and scored today

Rooney it is then, Yeah green pea or what ever he's called looks a decent buy, & fantasy wise looks a better shrewd buy than somone like Owen who he's a similar price to.

Congrats to United

I honestly wasn't ecpecting a win today, they were the better side (Scholes bossed the game) and were a lot shaper than us.

Sturridge changed the game when he came on which is good to see. Would've prefered to see perhaps him and Bruma start (Ivanovic pushed out wide - don't really rate him at CB). And Kakuta on the bench.

I know it's only pre-season but that's four defeats in a row now for us Sad ... better get them outta the way now eh ? Wink

On another note...quality goal by Hernandez, showed great skill and vision to boot the ball against his own face Tongue

not suprising really, he's took them as far as he or anyone else could over the last couple of years. he's probably realised he has no chance of bettering the last couple of league finishes, they'll be fighting for 7th with everton i think with the obvious big four always going to be there plus tottenham and city's millions

he'll probably use the sale of milner as his excuse for leaving no doubt

What timing. eek 5 days before the start of the season.

Interesting news but I am not surprised. Martin O' Neill has always struck me as highly ambitious and principled. I suspect that he was not prepared to put up with a sell to buy policy and walked away. I feel he wanted progression towards Champions League qualification and that potentially losing the likes of Milner was not going to help to achieving this objective especially if less than 100% of the sale proceeds were to be made available to reinvest. From a neutral perspective I would say Villa need to increase their strength in depth but maybe the desire to balance the books is compromising this.
