RE: Athletics - lovebabes56 - 05-10-2019 17:47 GB men's 4vx 400 miss out - pretty disappointing RE: Athletics - lovebabes56 - 05-10-2019 19:21 R4 x 100 m relays two silvers - think the women's changeovers were slightly better than the men's team RE: Athletics - southsidestu - 05-10-2019 20:42 The fourth runner Daryll Neita absolutely flew to over take the US sprinter and take the silver Well done to both relay teams for their silvers RE: Athletics - Snooks - 05-10-2019 21:31 Mens 4x4 relay team progress to final after all due to Botswana being disqualified. RE: Athletics - Snooks - 05-10-2019 23:02 Come on Callum Hawkins. Come on son. Go man go. COME OOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNN. Aaaaaagggggghhhhhh Agonising. 4th in the marathon. Agony RE: Athletics - Snooks - 13-10-2019 15:24 So both the mens and womens marathon world records gone in the same weekend. Two Kenyans, Eliud Kipchoge and Brigid Kosgei setting the new marks. Kipchoge the first man to break the 2 hour barrier. Kosgei beating the 2 hours 15 minutes mark on the womens side. RE: Athletics - GMach1 - 09-02-2020 02:41 Speaking of records Armand Duplantis, the USA-born Swede aged 20 cleared a height of 6.17m at the second attempt in the Pole Vault indoors at Torun, Poland to beat Frenchman Renaud Lavillenie's previous mark of 6.16m in February 2014. Duplantis won a silver medal in the 2019 World Championships. RE: Athletics - lovebabes56 - 09-02-2020 07:26 Wow, that must be pretty close some of the heights Bubka was setting in his prime!! RE: Athletics - GMach1 - 12-02-2020 18:29 I don't think Bubka got that high mate-maybe indoors but outside he dominated but it is good to see Duplantis showing his full potential at last. The first Indoor meeting takes place this weekend on BBC1 at 1.15pm live from Glasgow. As there appears to be no World Championships now in China next March it will be crucial for athletes to kick-start their season and might well mean we see some great performances. RE: Athletics - GMach1 - 15-02-2020 15:21 Well there was the potential I was talking about, Armand Duplantis 6.18m a new world record set in Glasgow and amazingly he can go higher, doing what Bubka did, one centimetre at a time per meeting. Jessie Knight a fabulous PB in the women's 400m and Jemma Reekie beat Sayum to win the 1500m. Long jump was awful, even Kat Johnson-Thompson had an off day, but Lorraine Ugen, usually reliable and one of our best long jumpers failed miserably and ended in 8th place a whole metre off her best. Laura Muir pushed herself hard but failed to capture the rarely run 1,000m world record. A good meeting with British athletes back in action NEXT weekend for the British Indoor championships in Glasgow, only on the BBC app or website. |
