RE: General Election 2019 - hornball - 12-12-2019 17:41 So how many do we think have 'lent' their vote this time around?? and placed the 'X' against a different name/party than usual?? Here in Ni, I suspect - despite talk of a number of 'interesting constituencies' to watch out for - it will largely be 'no change' and Brexit will take second place to the usual save/end the Union! For me, this is actually a 'no win' outcome in many ways - however you slice or dice it! For every statement found by an independent body to be false then you lose 50 candidates. That would mean in this election the Conservatives had no candidatesThey were apparently subject to that this time around - and some would claim they were always fact checking. The Beeb claims to have fact checked everything! Some will never accept the 'facts' as they are presented, however, if they don't suit them!! I personally use 'FULL FACT' website - for better or worse! They at least appear to be even handed, and have debunked many of the claims/proposals from all sides! RE: General Election 2019 - GMach1 - 12-12-2019 18:18 It is what makes a democracy that people can vote for who they want-to give up that right is mad, even if you have no idea about the politics of it use your vote. I don't think this is going to go away. I don't think Boris will get it done however 'oven ready' it is. I spoke to a friend of mine and he told me it was pointless voting for who he wanted so he spoilt his ballot paper - never heard him do that before. There’s no excuse for not voting when postal votes are available. And hand - written by the leaders? Then once it is legally binding, they can't go back on their word as it is there in black & white and open to legal challenge from anyone who has no political ties and chucking it down outside so didn't vote and i am not well. Everyone is able to vote by post. There are no restrictions on applying for a postal vote.
