Depending on the video content, I can't fully disagree with the comment of, ''progress, not perfection'', it's fair enough on the face of it. It isn't perfect, shows like this rarely are, because they don't often please everyone. The other one is just nonsense though.
Anyway, the characters are obviously relevant to Picard the man, so why wouldn't somebody his age seek out and adventure with people he trusts, I mean, come on. lol. They are in it for valid reasons. This season is one last hurrah for Jean Luc, so people need to quit bitching and trying to find fault, just enjoy it for what it is. Let the character go out with a (hopefully) big adventure with a satisfying conclusion.

For some strange reason I keep seeing James T Kirk in Ed Speeler's Jack. Would've done a better Kirk than the one in Strange New Worlds.

Agree about Amanda Plummer, she was excellent in this episode. Being a very good Star Trek villain clearly runs in the family
