RE: UFC - TDK2008 - 09-07-2013 18:30 Glad both Frankie Edgar vs. Charles Oliveira and Cub Swanson vs. Dennis Siver got Fight of the Night bonuses. Both deserved 'em. If I had to pick one, I'd have given it to Swanson vs. Siver. Any fighter with a half decent punch who threw it at the moment Weidman did would've had the same result. Silva put himself in a position where it was all but impossible to adjust his feet in time, the puch would only have needed to be 60-70% due to Silva's stance. Come on that's just talk & not factual, it's there for the victory speech at moments like this. Chris Weidman wins & jumps 3rd to 1st yest Frankie Edgar wins & drops a place. The point is though that Anderson Silva does those same movements in front of every fighter he faces and won 17 fights in a row doing it. Every man he faced in those 17 fights had a decent punch and he beat them all. Knocking out or submitting 15 of the 17. Chris Weidman left him seeing stars on the octagon floor. For me, he deserves more than people saying anyone could have done it. Weidman earlier. "I'm not here to change other people's opinions but I'll tell you one thing: he did not give me the belt. He did not throw the fight. It was nothing like that. He was doing exactly what he does in all his fights. He had his hands down, he was trying to mentally defeat me, make me freeze, make me feel like I didn't deserve to be in the ring with him. I didn't want to let him do that. I wanted to put him in his place, and that's it." The best thing for Weidman is to have the rematch and ko Silva again or beat him in a dominant fashion. I've seen people call him the Buster Douglas of the UFC today, which is crazy. The lad's a machine. RE: UFC - Crayzion - 09-07-2013 23:23 The Buster Douglas of UFC?? LOL! That's too much! Nobody could make a case for Buster Douglas to win - pretty much everybody could make a viable case for Weidman to win though. I was 50/50 before the fight! I just think Silva made a big mistake in the fight and that's why he lost, rather than Weidman winning it. I know what gnp is saying - Silva does this all the time but Weidman cracked the code nobody else could so give him credit - and he does deserve credit but it was still a mistake by Silva which brought the end of the fight. He doesn't do exactly what he did last Saturday night in all his other fights. I think Weidman threw like 4 or 5 punches in that final flurry before one landed (and ended the fight) but it's like what Mitchell says, Silva's feet were caught under his body and he backed himself into a corner with his body weight/position. If you're feet are planted and you stand square on, hands down, not throw a counter back or rotate out while a guy gets THAT close to you throwing 4 or 5+ punches at you then you're asking for trouble, no matter who you are fighting. Nobody is invincible! He should never have been in that position, he should have been gone before then. It was madness. His showboating got in the way of his technique. Silva made a mistake and got caught, BUT if Weidman doesn't come forward that aggressively, throwing that many punches then he would not of landed that punch and now be MW Champ, he went for it and he got it so he deserves his credit. Hopefully there will be a rematch. Fingers crossed! RE: UFC - groundnpound - 10-07-2013 01:47 Meisha Tate - ESPN Body Issue. RE: UFC - groundnpound - 11-07-2013 15:30 Brian Stann retires. http://www.mmajunkie.com/news/2013/07/ufc-middleweight-brian-stann-retires-from-mma-to-focus-on-broadcasting RE: UFC - groundnpound - 11-07-2013 15:41 Read earlier Chael Sonnen's UFC contract has expired, he went to Dana White with this list of demands before he signs a new one. Funny stuff! "It says, 'Dana, my manager said you guys talked and are getting a contract together for me,'" Sonnen explained. "'I think you should be aware of my demands. First, Jello Biafra replaces Bruce Buffer as ring announcer. Secondly, every fight I'm in must be a No. 1 contender fight or a title match. If I lose, I get an immediate rematch until I win. No media can look me in the eye, or they will be removed from the room. "'No. 5: Headset legalized through the commission so I can call my own fights. No. 6: No longer will I walk to the ring. I need to be carried. No. 7: Keys to your least favorite Ferrari – I'm not asking too much. No. 8: I can Skype or FaceTime my fights if I feel like flying. No. 9 – and it's non-negotiable: tell 'GSP' to stop being such a dick. I'll return his truck when I'm done with it.' "See, I'm not all about money, people. There's more to these contracts. They're very sophisticated." RE: UFC - groundnpound - 11-07-2013 17:08 4 HQ Meisha Tate. RE: UFC - TDK2008 - 14-07-2013 07:13 Big news lads, Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva II and Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate II on the 28th of December at UFC 168. Rousey/Tate was the original main event, this is now co-main event. RE: UFC - Carl13 - 14-07-2013 13:10 |
