RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - winsaw - 21-02-2021 15:47 this is good it shows on the left we have the 2nd strictest lockdown in the world at the moment but on the right we will see one of the biggest drops in GDP as a result this shows why our lockdown has worked but now the jab can take over from it so we can get the county going again RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - lovebabes56 - 22-02-2021 06:29 It will take a while longer for there to be any real economice but do think the impact of this pandemic is going to felt economically for quite some time to come and shopping habits have if anything changed the way we do things & our high streets have pretty much more than likely changed forever tbh, and once we are anything back to like normal living we will see shops full of people, but I fear for some (not not all) non essential business it couild be a long way back especially the small independent types. Will we see shopping malls disappear from our high streets? But if we were ptetty lucky to avoid a double dip recession rhis time round who's to say a deep recassion isn't on the cards at some point that could even kill off the high street for good? Johnson's roadmap has to be clear and decisive and has maybe a hint of work around feel to it. By that I mean it has have some flexibilty to it so that it can change should things look a little difficult, but what e can't be sure of is hoe the virus will behave during this period. Yes it will mutate and evolve, but i will say this it WILL NOT BE EASY. We cannot afford to sit back and take our eye of the ball for one second. It is highly possible that booster jabs will bre required for much later in the year, but I am saure many od will be wondering how the virus will react once we start getting milder then warmer weather. RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - winsaw - 22-02-2021 13:55 there is a lot of leaking on whats bojo is going to say later this seams to be his play 8 March All schools – primary and secondary – will open from 8 March, despite opposition from the main teaching unions who have called for a staggered reopening. Schools will be allowed to restart outdoor sports matches as well as other outdoor activities. Care home visits indoors will resume, including allowing residents to hold hands with visitors. Rules will on socialising in a public space will be relaxed, meaning one person can sit down with another individual from outside their household or bubble for a coffee, drink or picnic. 29 March The second part of the first phase of reopening will begin as schools break up for Easter holidays. Outdoor gatherings will be permitted for either up to six people – reinstating the rule of six – or two households. The new rule is designed to give greater flexibility for families to meet outside, where the risk of transmission is significantly lower. Outdoor sports facilities such as tennis or basketball courts and golf course will reopen. Organised adult and children’s sport, such as grassroots football, can also return. The government has said it hopes to vaccinate all adults over the age of 50 by 15 April. Second phase – late April The second phase will allow the reopening of some hospitality in limited circumstances, which could include serving outdoors only. Non-essential retail is expected to reopen in April. Universities and colleges could get the green light to reopen campuses. Third phase – middle of May By mid-May, pubs and restaurants are likely to be allowed to open indoors, though there could still be limits on groups, and social distancing will be in place. This phase is also most likely to be the time that hairdressers and beauticians reopen, though there may be further restrictions on very close contact treatments that were also slower to resume after the first lockdown. The phase may also see families allowed to travel for short breaks around the UK, though with restrictions on household mixing. Fourth phase A further relaxation of social contact, likely to include some mixing indoors. The health secretary, Matt Hancock, has said he is optimistic about summer holidays being permitted in the UK, so June could see restrictions lifted on the tourism sector. Foreign holidays are likely to be highly dependent on the actions of other governments and the progress of international vaccination – as well as a desire by ministers to strictly limit the ability of new variants to enter the country. Therefore it could help open up restuarants, nightclubs and theatres. And the vaccine passport may be needed if you want to go on holiday. And then there is Holiday Insurance. You may need proof of being vaccinated before they will insure you.
