The woman is this video got a 300 page bill (said to be a world record) but fortunately the bill still only came to 275 US Dollars. A bit of responsibility from the phone company's i.e like BT in my case in stopping premium rate numbers, I accept like the channels they are a business and someone's calls means profit but I think there is a limit if I guys goes too far. Ultimately it is the responsibility of the caller though and if you spend too much one quarter you just have to live like a hermit and be celibate for a while simple as that. Banks and credit card companies do something similar if you have a suspicious transaction history, now this can be as simple as 3 online purchases in a day or multiple payments to the same person through paypal depending what their days "watch" sequence is. Most recently my bank froze my card because I spent around £500 on flights, £600 on hotels the same day as I pay a few general bills and it was described as "suspicious and unusual" leading to a payment being refused for something the next day. I contacted the bank and they just asked me to confirm the large payments I had made, asked if I was aware what my balance was and then unblocked the card for me to carry on. I remember reading this too, but it doesn't appear to be the whole story, as Kev received a bill of over £19,000 for his first month of calling, meaning that regardless of their comment about not knowing Vodafone must surely have known about the calls before they reached £29,083. Plus didn't they block his card at the £19,000 mark? |
