RE: UFC - 199lives - 13-12-2013 14:32 There was 3 great fights last weekend if anyone not seen them yet i'd make an effort to watch hunt-bigfoot, shogun-Tehuna and Nam phan- Mizugaki. The main, co-main and lauzon-danzig could all be great fights. UFC is adding another womens division. the next season of the ultimate fighter (after Penn-Edgar) will be a tournament to decide the 115lb champion. they have agreed a deal to sign 11 fighters from womens only promotion Invicta. Next year there will be over 50 events so there should be a ppv, fight night or ufc on fox every week. Not good news for some champions though Cain and pettis are both out for at least 6 months with injuries. GSP's announcement this afternoon needs to be a good one having three champions sitting on the side lines can't be a good thing. RE: UFC - groundnpound - 14-12-2013 12:05 GSP takes some time off, vacates title. "I’ve been fighting for a long time, I have 22 fights in the UFC, and 15 were for a world title. I’ve been fighting a long time at a high level, a lot of pressure and criticizing. I’ve decided I needed to take some time off.” “The UFC is a business, I’m vacating my title out of respect for the other competitors.” "Definitely one day I will come back, I’ll be stronger when I do, but it has to be on my own terms.” Audio of the announcement: http://mmajunkie.com/2013/12/audio-georges-st-pierre-announces-hes-vacating-ufc-title-taking-a-break/ RE: UFC - LODOS - 15-12-2013 21:18 So will the new Welterweight champ be interim? Hendricks and lawler are fighting to be new champion. i would think if/when gsp comes back he'd get an instant title shot though. personally think it should have been Hendricks-Condit for the title. UFC officials have made no secret of their plans to continue offering more live events in 2014 than in past years, likely hitting a mark of somewhere around 50 events in the upcoming year. The bulk of that expansion is intended to come from more and more international events. The new digital platform is primarily a means to facilitate that expansion and make international offerings and other content available to fans across the globe. As the UFC expands into more international markets, they intend to tailor those events primarily to the markets they are being held in. Thus, the timing will be what is best for the locality and not necessarily appropriate for television audiences in other markets. With the advent of the UFC’s new digital platform, which is likely to be called UFC Fight Pass, fans across the globe will be able to watch events from other markets live, whether or not the event airs on a television platform in their region. UFC Fight Pass will follow a subscription model. If a screenshot that leaked out on the internet over the weekend is accurate, the price will be set at $9.95 per month, which falls in line with comments by UFC president Dana White. Aside from international live events, UFC Fight Pass will also feature the UFC’s vast library of content, which not only includes the UFC, but also Pride, WEC, Strikeforce, and other promotions the company has acquired over the years. The UFC Fight Pass website screen shot that Twitter user @rossfinkelstein leaked over the weekend indicates that the service’s primary viewing categories will be Live Events, Event Replays & UFC Fight Library, Television Shows, and Original Content. UFC officials are expected to make a media presentation on Saturday, Dec. 28, to unveil full official details of the service, including programming and pricing.
